Awful. I hope to receive my refund. Paid for 3 group tables and as soon as we got there it was clear there were too many in compared to number of tables - people for the evening event were coming in the afternoon and we weren’t even counted in on arrival so definitely more people turned up probably without tickets. Queued 40 minutes to get a beer to find out that at a German Oktoberfest they were just selling Coors and Carling on draught - we left. Bright white lights in the venue - did not have good atmosphere at all. Entertainment wasn’t great and very vulgar. Felt like we were at Butlins - a lot of friends travelled for this event so we were bitterly disappointed

Wow.
This was utterly dreadful.
First off - a full hour in a queue for a watered down drink.
No German beer, no German food.
Lights on full blast the whole time, no atmosphere or decor (besides some bunting and tablecloths) it was like an old people's community centre get-together.
The 'entertainment' were awful, crude and not funny. Not German, or authentic.
Most people left early.
Poorly executed. What an epic fail

Potentially the worst day of my entire life. Who knew the opportunity to drink 2 pints of Carling from a large plastic glass was just like being at Oktoberfest??? Of course, that was after you had queued 1 full hour to be served by the 2 bar staff. I'm not Carol Vorderman by any means, but several hundred people being served by 2 staff is probably sub-optimal. The promised food stalls turned out to be some microwaved Ye Olde Oak hotdogs sold on a "cash only" basis - presumably so nobody can complain to their bank and get the transactions cancelled. The eardrum bursting "music" accompanied by a Ricky Hatton tribute act randomly shouting unintelligible noises actually managed to make this shambles even worse. Many attendees attempted to blur out the entire experience by purchasing full bottles of gin and downing them at 1.30pm in the afternoon. You have to admire the audacity of the organisers in pulling this off. I was at the very least expecting a riot, which would have actually drastically improved matters. Easily the worst ten pounds I have EVER spent and I speak as someone who once bought an Ed Sheeran CD.

Embarrassingly awful!! Was looking forward to this event after the least 18 months. The advert read the current space will be COMPLETELY unrecognisable as they transform it into a huge Oktoberfest bier Halle. ??. What a joke!! It was the Mecca Bingo with a few German flags, some tacky plastic blue and white cloths and a couple of lines of bunting that said Oktoberfest. When we got in we were greeted by a wall of people and found out this was the queue for the ONE bar that was serving Steins. The ‘back up bar’ was serving bottles of becks and Erdinger. This was manned by one person. We queued for over an hour to reach the Stein bar to be greeted by CARLING and Coors light!! This was being served by 3 people from the worlds slowest pump! Yes guys, this was at an Oktoberfest! The Oompah band was 4 people being lead by an inappropriate leader trying to be Chubby Brown! At one point they we getting us to sing the traditional German song ‘I am a music Man’. The ‘Bratwurst’ was tinned or jars of hot dogs and I’m pretty sure it was tinned burgers all served on stale buns..The event was clearly a money making scam with no effort being made to make it even resemble an Oktoberfest. I felt sorry for the people who made the effort to dress in lederhosen and was jealous of the people who made the correct decision to leave an hour after arriving. I spent the rest of the day and evening talking to other people in the bars around Chester who felt exactly the same! I would not recommend this to anyone and would like to know how to get a refund as this was not as advertised.

Shocktoberfest comes to Chester.

£10 (+ handling fee) just to get through the doors.
4 (four) bar staff + 2 (two) pumps = 1 (one) ridiculously long queue to get served.
Beer choice of those quintessentially German beverages - Carling or Coors - served in plastic steins at £8 a pop.
Compère and “band” jetted in from the Germanic state of Manchester and straight off the set of Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights.
To eat, Aldi tinned frankfurters and bargain burgers

Awful attempt at an Oktoberfest, queued for nearly an hour to get a stein of fosters! No German beers on tap, no German food or entertainment. What did our ticket price cover? Everybody who went deserves to have their money back, the organisers should feel ashamed!

Really good but improvements could be made, more bar staff as the cue was to much, maybe people walking round serving stains, German beer is a must!! German food also is a must, band was good but also a German band would help for the atmosphere

It was totally disappointed,no flag's or anything octoberfest in the room,had to queue for over a hour for a beer, and no German lager, Carling and cors, the food was tinned sausages, when they started playing bingo,we all left, really disappointed with the whole thing, not worth the money

Not a good experience at all. Oktoberfest without German lager on tap?! Just overall cheaply done and not at all what I expected. Had been looking forward to this for quite some time so very disappointed. As were a lot of people judging by the amount of people leaving early. Won't be doing it again and won't be recommending either. Cheap hot dogs, no bratwurst. Oompah band? Not quite. I definitely advise people not to waste their money on this.

Where to start...... Venue wasnt fit for purpose. Bars were small and 1 didn't have a pump so the beers to to be brought down from upstairs which resulted in huge queues. The fact most people after a couple of hours says it all. Never again

As we left early to find proper beer and something that resembled service, we bumped into another early leaver. He'd even gone to the trouble of dressing up for it. As he jumped in a cab to "spend my hard earned somewhere that deserves it", he said something that summed the whole ridiculous event up: "that was insulting" was his verdict. I couldn't agree more. It was as far from anything Oktoberfest as you could get. All the other comments are totally accurate. The 'organisers' should be ashamed.

The venue seemed completely unprepared for the event. I felt sorry for the staff. There was only one bar in operation and no German beer at all!. The lights were way too bright and the entertainment was naff. Most people left after an hour. So no I would not recommend to others.

This was a totally waste of money. No decorations, no German sausages and no German beers.
Queued 1 hour for Steins that were just regular Carling on tap that you could get any night, except over priced. The hot dogs were not bratwurst but the American style out of a jar!! The entertainment didn’t start for about 1.5-2hours and was more like a Roy Chubby Brown impersonator with dirty jokes, not funny, not entertaining, we left after 2.5 hours.

No atmosphere. No german larger. Qued 1 hour for drinks. Entertainment poor. Just put a load of people in a room and called it a beer festival
