Review of Jazz On The Plaza - Gabriel Garrick
Cafe Yukari is a great place for chamber music of all sorts, with its wonderful Fazioli grand piano, as well as being a super cafe offering a wide range of snacks, meals and drinks - all thanks to Keith, his family and staff. On this occasion another in the long line of intimate jazz events organised by Mood Indigo, surely now the premier promoter of jazz in West and South West London, and featuring the excellent Gabriel Garrick (son of Brit jazz legend, Michael Garrick) and the ever-reliable "terrific" Terry Collie on piano. The first half was an inspired celebration of the 60th anniversary of Kind of Blue and the second featured a number of standards mostly associated with Miles Davis to complement the first half tribute. A total bargain at well under £15.00. How do Terry and Janet keep doing it ? I strongly advise you to check out the MI website and sign up for as many of their gigs as possible. You won't regret it.

Review of Jazz On The Plaza - Duncan Eagles
What more could you want: lovely, intimate setting, appreciative full house and terrific music. I'd seen Duncan Eagles before with his quintet so I knew we were in for a treat, and with Terry C. on piano, a superb duo running through many recognisable and less familiar standards. I particularly enjoyed Wayne Shorter's "Mah Jong" played, according to Duncan, unusually in 5/4 time. I wouldn't know but it sounded great. Perhaps others covering this track should try it that way ! Well done everyone, including Keith and the ladies of Cafe Yukari.

Review of Jazz On The Plaza - Josephine Davies, Terence Collie
Beautifully crafted interpretations of various jazz standards and covers of lesser known compositions by the talented Josephine Davies on tenor sax ably supported by the consistently excellent Terry Collie on piano. The Cafe Yukari is an amazingly intimate space, which you can translate as tiny, but such a lovely atmosphere created by the proprietor and his family. Super range of meals and other refreshments.

Review of Jazz On The Plaza - Josephine Davies, Terence Collie
I have attended events at this venue on multiple occasions and have enjoyed it every time. Terence Collie played with his usual panache and sensitivity and the big surprise was Josephine Davies, who played her sax with the most warmth, a real pleasure. Some gigs are lifted far above average and this was one of them. This was the first time I'd heard Josephine Davies play and I hope it won't be the last. Of the saxophone players I've heard with Terrence Collie, Josephine is my favourite. Sadly she left before I could grab a CD! I should have acted faster.
A lovely gig with a friendly crowd.
