Review of Eurovision Rooftop Screening

Overall rating: 3 Verified review

Tickets were a lot of money which we paid to be able to watch Eurovision. The view of the screens wasn't great or well thought out, nor were the speakers, and the stroppy people who had booked tables blocked the view and were generally unpleasant. Drink range was limited and there didn't seem to be enough bar staff. We got kicked out before the winner's performance, again, this was an event billed as being a chance to watch Eurovision, this is what we paid for, so they could've at least let us see the whole thing. Really felt very cynical on the part of the venue, clearly poorly thought-out money-grab.

Our party of 7 was very disappointed by the Eurovision Screening at Liberte. The whole reason we, and I'm sure the majority of others, had gone to a screening event was to actually watch Eurovision. However, the layout of the bar and the overselling of tickets meant that 2/3rds of the people there were actually unable to see either of the two screens.

The areas in front of the screens were filled with large tables which were all reserved, so the space was not optimised for viewing. We overheard that you had to pay extra for a table so we'd basically paid £40+ to get onto the roof - if we wanted to see the thing we came to see we would have had to have forked out more...the word 'scam' comes to mind.

In addition to this, we enquired ahead of time whether food would be available. We were told it would be but when we got there we were told it would be too difficult to find us as we weren't seated.

We left after less than an hour and will not be returning for other events. I strongly advise against Liberte for 'viewing' events.

We were all crammed in with minimal seating. The seating available was reserved.. we all paid tickets to attend so should have had someone to sit.
The two screens were difficult to see and impossible to hear. Management said that the council had fitted something to limit sound production as it was a residential area. So tickets should not have been advertised or sold for such an event.
When we arrived the staff were rushing to get welcome drinks poured with a crowd of customers stood around waiting.. again the event was advertised to start with a welcome drink so why was the venue not prepared?
Overall the preparation was poor and they clearly weren’t suitable to host such an event. When we complained and spoke with management, after a flurry of excuses he stormed off and refused to speak to us or refund the ticket price.

It was too busy, they ran out of drink at 7.30pm, none of the staff knew what they were doing, none of them knew how to take food orders.

This was a viewing party for the Eurovision final which cost £49.50 a ticket. After arriving, we were told that there was nowhere to sit as all the tables were ‘reserved’. There were two screens, one outside and one inside. We were watching on the outside. The screen was too small for everyone to see and you couldn’t hear anything.

Communication from the promotors was also non existent. X4 of my friends were unable to attend from London due to the train strike. I tried contacting the promoters to get a refund but was only able to do this via Skiddle. The promotors failed to respond to my request meaning we lost £200 in ticket money. The event advertising did not say ‘no refunds’ so it is really disappointing that the promotors didn’t issue the refund.

A very poorly organised and total s**tshow of an event. Never again!

The event was hugely oversold, we were unable to move and there was not enough seats - we spent the night sat on the floor. Unable to hear what was going on.

What a rip-off and a scam!
£7 for a bottle of cider or beer is ridiculous.
I paid £40 for two seats (on top of two tickets to the event) and never sat down for the whole night. When I asked a member of staff they said ‘everyone has paid for a seat’. Too many people were at the event, everyone was in each others way, surely there was a limit for how many people are allowed and I bet it was over the limit. It was a very disappointing night and we won’t be returning.

We were a party of 4 and 3 of us had attempted to contact the venue multiple times to reserve a table and we never heard anything back. Emails, texts, calling - no one helped. We would get a reply days later and then nothing else. I knew when I was stood in the queue it was going to be bad. Handfuls of girls pushing into the front of the queue and boasting about it. Everyone in the queue was getting mad at it. Got upstairs and everyone was packed in like sardines and the prices for the drinks was criminal! £7 for a small bottle of beer and £7.5 for a pint which was half foam.. and you could only buy certain drinks from certain bars, but they weren’t marked and all had the same price list with drink options so you only knew you couldn’t get the drink you wanted after you waited in the queue. The screens were tiny and positioned so that half of it was blocked by someone sitting in front of us. We waited 15 minutes to get to the bar to be told that the drink we wanted was from only available on the other bar, with another huge queue. The music being played wasn’t Eurovision themed - the whole venue wasn’t Eurovision themed? It was basically a normal Saturday in Liberte but with the show playing in the background. We didn’t even get the complimentary welcome drink! After about 20 minutes we decided to leave. A large group of older ladies were sat on a table and we were stood next to them and someone came over and told them that they’d accidentally been given the wrong table and had to get up straight away to make room for another group. The way it was done was so rude. If you really wanted to have a good time and watch it, this was NOT the place, so we left and went elsewhere. No organisation whatsoever and no thought went into making it a good experience for people who were there to genuinely enjoy the show.

Overall a terrible experience. The sound system was not working which meant we couldn't hear the Eurovision. We had to leave. The manager was super unhelpful and aggressive when asked about it.

Too many people with not enough seating. Health and Safety issues with sometimes no access to loos. Some staff were absolutely lovely and helpful. Did get us 2 chairs and blankets when cold.
TVs showing Eurovision could not be seen by all. Although a great idea rather chaotic at times. No hot drinks when cool at night

Oversold tickets to Eurovision screening. Could have elevated the screens so everyone could see. Instead they were ground level, no view. Left to watch it in hotel. Waste if money.

While the venue had some great views of the Liver Building, our group of seven were really disappointed by the event that was advertised as a "Eurovision screening". There were about four times as many people as seats, so the majority of people had to stand, and the layout of the venue meant it was impossible to even see the screens at times. We had enquired ahead to see if it would be possible to order food there and were told it would be. However, when we arrived, we were informed it would be too difficult to find us as we were standing up—like most people! The drinks were also overpriced; £8 for a small Prosecco in a plastic glass. The atmosphere felt as though this was actually more of a club night rather than a Eurovision screening, and while some people were enjoying that vibe, many had bought expensive tickets (£40) to come and watch and/or support the acts and were truly underwhelmed. We left after an hour and would be unlikely to return for another event.

This event was dangerously overcrowded. And had clearly been oversold.
To be charged £50 to sit in a doorway, not able to see or hear the event and buy overpriced drinks that they ran out of anyway was an outrage.

The rooftop was oversold and overcrowded to the point it felt unsafe
There was only 2 screens at floor level which meant that it was impossible to see anything going on and the volume of the TV meant you couldn’t even hear the music so it wasn’t much of a viewing party.
The welcome drink was half a plastic cup of Prosecco which they shortly ran out of and then anything after that was £7.50+ for a drink

Not what you’d expect to pay for £50 and I didn’t really enjoy it, bit of a waste of money in all honesty
