seriously disappointed that I paid for tickets to this event. it was rammed, noisy, you couldn't even hear what the band member was saying, just one German sausage vendor and to top it off extortionate bar prices!! what exactly is the ticket money for?????

How to describe Oktoberfest ? - way too many drunk people crammed into a tent!
The event promised so much and we were excited to go. None of us ate all afternoon because we were led to believe there were food stalls, which turned out to be 1 stall selling glorified hot dogs (fab for the veggie in the room - me). There were so many people in the room we couldn't hear the traditional german music just the chanting of the crowd. Also you sold standing tickets but never provided a place to stand. The area around the seating was so small we were crammed in like sardines - the whole place was a riot waiting to happen. We left after an hour.
We went to Ocktoberfest for the experience and atmosphere. It was a good attempt and on paper ticked all the boxes, but in reality it was just a piss up in an overcrowded tent with dodgy food (I guess it was thought people would be too drunk to notice).

food and drink prices were extortionate. for cost of the ticket you would have expected maybe a Stein included.
friends who were due to come with us had their tickets cancelled whilst therewas plenty of seats still available in the VIP area

Review of Oktoberfest Darlington
Music was great, could have done with a few more German related folk songs, venue was brilliantly set up. The atmosphere was typical of our town which is loud, vibrant and jolly. However the drinks were too pricy for a working class town, and at £41 a round we were struggling to go back to the bar. I would suggest £8 a stein next time for a town, instead of charging “city rates” as it will attract more people. But all in all I would definitely come back next year!

Review of Oktoberfest Darlington
Ludicrously expensive for what was offered. Very disappointed. £17 for 'seating ticket' and that just gave you entry. We paid extra for seating but everyone was allowed access so that was another sly expense. Only 2 beers and 2 ciders on; that's certainly not what I would call a 'fest'! Most of the music was cover bands playing modern pop music like you might find at a local pub/WMC. £11 for a 2pt beer (didn't see a smaller measure)., I think £10 was the cheapest. Purchased the commemorative 'stein' for £5, picked my drink up to find it was PLASTIC! Cheap plastic at that! If you used your card to pay (which at those prices, you might need to) you got charged an extra £1 each time. We went on the first night and there was no toilet paper in the portaloos. For what they were charging you would think they could afford paper! I really cannot get over the expense, and it was definitely NOT worth it.
I will say though that the staff were very nice and um-pah band put on a good performance.

Was refused entry as apparently if I read the terms and conditions I had be be there before 8pm. My e ticket says last entry 1am and there’s nothing on my e-ticket saying see website for entry details. It says I can attend between 5-11 so if I don’t get a refund i’ll pursue through the county courts
