August is one of those months that really lets you know that if you didn't have any summer plans before, now is the best time to secure some. And with this being Skiddle's big fat festival guide: Europe edition, we are dedicated to showing where to go hard because you've come too far to go home. 

This Europe edition is shining a light on truly how great August is when it's at its peak. Though you may find yourself in the influx of tourists, you know that you're here for one thing and one thing only. To witness some of your favourite artists on the stage until the sun sets, and those high 38s start feeling like cool 26s.

Way Out West

Where: Gothenburg, Sweden

Big names: Gorillaz, Lily Allen, The XX, Lorde, Zara Larsson, Moby, KETTAMA 

Stylish and sustainable? Yes, it is possible, especially at this European festival. Way Out West is a Swedish multi-genre festival, dedicated to bringing bold lineups to a scenic setting. However, the music isn't the only thing happening, with saunas, film screenings, artist talks and more in between. Plus, with a chic and chaos-free vibe, direct flights from the UK and 100% vegetarian, if you're looking to have a Swedish summer, Way Out West is the place to be.

Fm4 Frequency Festival

When: Thursday 20th - Saturday 22nd August 2026

Where: Greenpark, St. Polten, Austria 

Big names: Lorde, Fontaines D.C, Zara Larsson, Twenty One Pilots, Ravyn Lenae, Tom Odell

If you're looking for a multi-genre festival in summer, then Fm4 Frequency festival is a great shout. Across rock, pop, dance, rap and more, it'll literally feel like you're walking into a radio. Attracting a large crowd to the promotions of an Austrian radio station, this is one of the biggest festivals in Austria, and it's no surprise why.

Another massive European festival that never disappoints is Sziget, located in the bustling yet affordable city of Budapest. Known as a major cultural event, the festival welcomes around 500,000 people to its grounds to witness some of the best performances across its many stages.
