Review: Clubland X-treme Hardcore 3

Clubland X-Treme Hardcore 3. You just know by the title that this cd is going to be sheer brilliance. Or not as the case may be. RichSkiddle reviews...

Wonderful. It's that time of year, which amongst other things, all the record labels dig out their 'rich me quick' caps and put together yet another compilation of something completely christmas, clubland, or more often than not. Cack.

It's a real shame because underneath all the nonsense there's normally quite a few good releases knocking about, which only get to reach their full potential when rereleased in March, whilst christmas stockings around the land are rammed full of sheer and utter rubbish.

Imagine then, my delight, when Clubland X-Treme Hardcore 3 landed on our doormat at Skiddle HQ (yes, we do have a headquarters). Released this Monday 18th December - just in time for Christmas - no doubt it will be surrounding with a flurry of glamarous advertising and brightly coloured displays pulling unsuspecting parents into the midst of 'Hardcore - You know the score' knowing that this will be the perfect filler for the nearly bursting stocking. A word of advice parents, I know your reading, go get another Chocolate Orange instead. Or ask the nice guy at the counter what's really GOOD this christmas.

You see, it's like this. I've listened to all three cd's from the collection, and well, I don't know which ones which. There's plenty of GOOD songs on here, that even yourself as parents might remember for example, The Power of Love or Sacrifice, however let it be known that these songs are not as you remember, they are DESTROYED by the hardcore reworkings of Hixxy, Breeze and Styles. This is the apitamy of clubland, complete and utter CACK.

Now I know out there people will be growling at my everyword, but as I think of all the clubs in the UK, the ones that have broken through this year, the ones that have ruled the scene for years, how on earth this got the title Clubland is beyond me. Where do people listen to music like this? I associate it with my good friend Juan who runs the ibiza mania nights but im pretty sure his music policy has grown up a bit, I am after all remembering almost ten years ago - and HIXXY was big in hardcore then.

The fact that each cd is majorly made up from tracks produced by the people still mixing this music might suggest that Hardcore died a long time ago, and reworkings of the same old SHIT should just be put to bed. Come up with something new, or just be quiet, and please, please, please don't buy this album. If you must have it, download it, or nick it from the shops just don't put any money back into the Clubland X-Treme Machine.

Legally speaking, it's completely illegal to download music or take it from the shops unless you have paid for it. The only way that you should receieve a copy of this cd for free is if somebody gives it to you as a present. If this is the case, give it back and tell them you would of preferred some socks.
