Originally a rock only fiesta back in the seventies, Leeds and Reading have been gradually expanding their repertoires over the decades, now showcasing just about every type of music under the sun. Alongside the big name headliners like Mumford & Sons, alt-J, Metallica, Bring Me the Horizon and The Libertines, Leeds and Reading's dance line up is another thing of beauty, as this year proves.

For those wanting to break up the live acts and moshing for a spot of raving, off the cuff shuffling, or down and dirty skanking, there's an abundance to witness, primarily on Radio 1's increasingly essential Dance Stage. We've focused in one the five acts that we're most exited about over the weekend of August 28th - 30th.

MK

With roughly a billion remixes under his belt, MK is a one man hit machine, reworking all kinds of records with his tried and tested, deep and bassy house template that always delivers. If you're after some carefree, feel good dance music over the weekend, you couldn't wish for better. Check out his Ultra Miami set above.

Rustie

The Glaswegian beatsmith is on a meteoric trajectory at the moment, and has been for some time now. His glistening, euphoric sense of melody, overt use of synths, and crushing bass weight will delight all the skankers heading down to Leeds & Reading this year. Listen to his brand new track 'Big Catzzz' above.

Kevin Saunderson (Leeds Only)

If you want to witness and old skool master in full flow, Kevin Saunderson is your man. The Detroit techno and acid house pioneer has been rocking parties across the globe longer than most of us have been alive. Regarded as one of the founders of techno, expect a real masterclass of DJing firepower.

Porter Robinson

Porter Robinson could have easily been lost in the sea of up and coming EDM producers, but the young prodigy from North Carolina quickly outgrew the scene's trappings and swapped it for a forward thinking, dream pop inspired sound aimed at the mind and feet. Check out 'Sad Machine' above.

Boy Better Know

2015 is the year of grime, no question. With the genre in its rudest health yet, grime is once a gain a fixture in popular clubs and on major radio stations around the country.

The Boy Better Know crew are grime through and through, pioneering the genre in its infancy and still holding an iron like grip on its evolution today. Expect ferocious beats and razor sharp bars from scene dons Skepta, JME, Jammer and SHORTy. See them in action at Bestival last year above.
