Central to the Leeds' thriving bass music scene has for a long time been the pivotal Bigger Than Barry clubnight, which in its four year career has been bringing to Yorkshire the freshest sounds from all avenues of bass music.
Its weekly instalments at Mint Club on Tuesday nights had over time become the stuff of legend, and now with the night moving to a monthly residency at the iconic Leeds Warehouse, Bigger Than Barry have really upped the ante, with both their line ups and production values entering their strongest phase yet.
Maintaining their Tuesday night fixture, Bigger Than Barry welcome the bass music know how of Radio One resident DJ Monki. We recently caught up with the bass vixen to chat about her brand new EP (read that here), in which she talks of her enjoyment of Northern raving, something that the Bigger Than Barry crew are excellent representatives of.
Expect a rip-roaring journey through old skool garage, booty shaking bass, off kilter grime, and rowdy house music as heard in her mix for Thump.
She'll be joined by the always impressive Mak and Pasteman and Mella Dee, who came together to write 'Mad City' (above) - a phenomenal piece of forward thinking bass music that bodes well for their upcoming Bigger Than Barry appearances. Grab your tickets here.
The high grade sonic wares continue with Birmingham double team Cause & Affect, who take over the Warehouse on November 25th. Individually known as Chris Lorenzo and Kane, Cause & Affect have come to widespread recognition through their solid productions and mesmerising DJ sets that bridge the gap between tech house, garage, and even bassline.
Tracks like 'Mistakes' have been destroying clubs around the country for sometime now, bringing them to the attention of the likes of Rinse FM, who took no time to hook them in for a weekly Wednesday night residency. Get your Cause & Affect tickets here.
