The Longest Johns are a fantastic, must-see live act for any shanty and folk music fan. With a back catalogue of their own 'unique' shanties and some classics, there is something for everyone to sing along to. Only downside was the venue sound system was at times too loud. Otherwise, an 'ADEQUATE' night out!!

Acoustics in the venue were poor. Seemed to be a fair number of people who just turned up for the beer and were not there for the band - great deal of talking could be heard during the quieter numbers. Staff were excellent.

Great gig last night seeing The Longest John's, fantastic songs, full of humour and great energy, and a great palm tree too!

For what the venue is -an urban open space with no comfort, and overpriced drinks- I couldn't see it was worth it. People were so jammed in it didn't really feel safe- air con didn't come on until half way through and by then everyone was expiring.
The music was fun but it was SO INCREDIBLY LOUD , you couldn't actually hear it properly.
It would have been almost impossible to get to the loo and the guy who was standing on a small box for security would have had to crowd stuff to get to any potential trouble.
It seemed to be a case of 'jam them in and make loads of money- then make more by overpriced drinks'. Respect to the artists ( except to say, if you're good - you don't need to make it really loud to impress people) or the very friendly and helpful security guys- but not to whomever runs the venue.

Fantastic band creating a wonderful atmosphere. However, I won't be booking any more events at The Engine Rooms. It was hot and uncomfortable. They didn't put any air con on till after 9:15pm.
There's no seating at all, no beer worth drinking and what they do serve is in cans or bottles and very expensive and overpriced. Take a note from The 1865. They get it right. Music is supposed to be for all ages groups. I'm 64, but I think they only cater for younger people's requirements.

What a brilliant group of talented musicians - loved the lyrics, music and humour. A real feel good evening with great audience participation. Nati was a fabulous support act and would love to see more of her. Her lyrics and voice were so heart-warming.
