Review of Northern Grip 2018
A bit overpriced. facilities weren't great. Would have been nice if there were more things to do.
however the chance to ride some different bikes was good. perhaps better if over two days.
The demo loop could have been better signposted. by the afternoon an extra sign had gone up (but we knew where we were going by then).
would have been nice if it was a bit more environmentally friendly. the bar served drinks in plastic. and the food stall used unrecyclable trays.
there were no nearby amenities if one did not want to make use of the on site options.

Good chilled event. nowhere near as busy as thought it would be. needed more choice for food, also more happening for those camping Friday and Saturday night. all stalls packed up way to early.

A great idea and a well managed event. I think they were let down by some no shows, but the food was quite expensive £8 for a pizza and everything kind of fizzled out after the football.

Review of Northern Grip 2018
A bit of a disappointment to be honest. I understand this event is in it's 3rd year, but the organisation and layout was that of an event in it's first year! Some examples, showers in the main arena not in the campsite, water almost impossible to find, toilets a fair hike from the bottom camping field...... We didn't use the 'secure bike parking' as we couldn't find it, and the selling point that it had CCTV, didn't appeal. I don't want to have footage of someone stealing my bike! The sunken garden was constantly mentioned in the pre event info, but from what I could see it was never used. 'Breakfast' was horrible, minimal choice and my choice, sausage and egg in a dry bun, was awful! Also, the rides, in the info it said there was a range of trails to ride, there were 3, one of which was the flat part of a bigger ride. The route notes were pretty useless, as was the map, and including the strava route on the leaflet was pretty pointless as I hadn't got the ability to download it to my Garmin! Another option was to go and explore the trails around the area yourself.... an OS map of the local area on a board with the recommended riding would have been nice.... or even the ability to buy the local OS map. I asked at the check-in about routes, but no one could help me. Will our group be returning in 2019? Sorry, but no, and it's such a shame, as the event could be so much more.

Staff were friendly and helpful, but wouldn’t really class it as an event.
Few trade and food stands that packed up quite early but nothing at all going on at all in the quarry apart from some arrows suggesting where to go.
Atmosphere in the arena was ok but nothing going on in the evening., all kinda fizzled out really!!

Expected marked out varied routes around quarry and entertainment and refreshments happening in quarry on the Saturday and more trade stands not to mention a lot more riders. All in all a bit disappointed with the event.
