Review of Mystical Gardens
I organised a group of friends who hadn't seen one another for a while to go to share the experience. All of our group of eight adults really enjoyed being in the Botanic Gardens at night and being led through a theatrical tour with lights and sound. It was a slightly rainy night but because it wasn't as cold as recent days and weeks no one in our party seemed to mind the rain. We liked the fire performers a lot and they looked spectacular in dark and shadowy areas. It was lovely going through the Kibble Greenhouse at night but I think we all were looking for a little more to happen in that wonderful place. The big screen with the Wizard of Oz playing was great however. We liked all the performances a long the way. The story of the Brownies were great and it was a plus to learn more about Scottish myth and stories. Bobby and Mary were great too. Their suggestions for audience participation were persuasive and gave a very friend "let your hair down" feeling. But it was also great to learn about the the railway platform of the past through the stories they told. And overall the lighting and the sound gave a magical feeling to the Gardens when you moved from area to area anticipating what would happen next. I would definitely recommend the event to any friends over around 8 years old. I hope the event carries in to future years, adding new things from year to year.

I didn’t feel this event had enough variety of lighting, the groups were too big to be able to enjoy the street theatre performances as we couldn’t see passed the crowed or hear what they were saying. I expected more for the money.

This was the worst light show the worst I’ve ever attended. The lighting was pathetic. It was poorly designed and we all decided that however designed this should be sacked.
So disappointed came away feeling what a waste of money.
The designers should go and see the one at Dean Castle Kilmarnock now that was a light show. Artistic and beautiful and ticker was value for money.

Arrived 10 mins early for our scheduled group time. Had to queue for at least 40mins in the lashing rain, before we got to the entrance gate. Far too many people in a group and impossible to hear anything the 'Tour guide' had to say. There weren't enough lights to illuminate anything and for people who had never been there before we spent the time tripping and stumbling around in the dark and rain. The 'side shows' looked like they had asked people at the last minute to step in and 'do something' and altogether it was one big mess. A total waste of money and would not recommend it to anyone.

So disappointed with this event, I have bought 3 tickets in total for the event and I feel like I have wasted this money. The rain didn't help and the shows were really poor. I really don't understand why this event was so expenses, total rip off.

very disappointed. Groups to large, which meant , when your are at the back of the group you couldn't see or hear what was happening. Poor directions as to where to go. My 5yr old was not spooked by anything. Location was perfect, but over all felt very un professional

Review of Mystical Gardens
I had a great experience at the Mystical Gardens. I attended this event on my own on a dreich Sunday evening. I had booked a slot for 7pm but arrived early, just as an earlier slot was starting. It was no hassle for me to attend this one instead of hanging around. I joined the group armed with a hat and gloves, hood up to protect from the drizzle. The fire faeries were mesmerising, the music pounded in my heart as I tapped my foot and swayed. I felt emotional witnessing the passion of the faeries and some tears rolled down my cheeks. Perhaps it was a good thing the weather wasn’t on our best side. Onwards to the glasshouse we wandered round the germs and were shortly greeted by an enthusiastic man asking the children of the group if they knew any magic spells. He had great charisma and got us all to join in pantomime style. We left the glasshouse and were met by a sorcerer who explained that he had frozen some demons in the forest and again, asked the kids for some magical spells.
A short jaunt up a hill we were met by a wonderful storyteller who told us the tale of Scottish Brownies, specifically her pal Tam the Scottish Brownie. The tale was told with such enthusiasm I again, felt emotional. She bid us farewell and thanked us for time, wishing us luck on our travels. Lastly we were met by another pair of fire faeries. Who, like all of the other woodland creatures were fantastic and full of passion.
The weather wasn’t the best, but that cannot be helped, even by such lovely woodland creatures. I had a great time and would recommend to friends.
