Review of The Garden Show at Firle Place
We have been coming to this event for sometime. Last year we also came on the Friday and found access was easy with no queues along the A27. However on this visit, the car parking had changed from entry via the bottom of the field to a crawl through the sheeting grazing fields which slowed everyone down, which effectively had a knock-on effect to traffic on the A27', thus causing snail backs on this busy road, which is a single lane westbound. On entry it took some 40 minutes from the A27 into the parking field due to the change in the parking entry system.
On top of this, the ticket entry point was a complete shambles. There was signage for those paying by cash and debit card, but nothing for those who had booked in advance and had either printed off the bar code or inserted it on their mobile. There was no signs for this mode of entry, but we noticed a lady staff member standing between the to payment points who was there to scan the tickets for those, like us, who had booked on-line. She then had the trouble of trying to tear off tickets from a block to give those who had printed their tickets on-line. Not sure why this was duplicated. We would also add that the entry gate was narrow and poorly managed, considering the crowds on the first day. We have been to other events where the the entry gates are clearly marked for the appropriate ticket systems - cash, debit/credit card, and a separate channel for pre booked visitors of which the holders bar code is scanned without the need of another ticket being given.
There were clearly more events this year, and therefore with the weather being forecast as warm and sunny, more visitors would have attended. In this respect, there were many proms and mobility users, also trying to get through the narrow entry gates.
As a professional road accident investigator, the organisers of this years event should give some serious thought to the management of vehicle entry, which caused delays for through traffic on the A27. Moving traffic across the fields slowed the process down. Last years entry system was for more better and safer for the motoring public, whether they were attending or passing through.

Excellent weather, which meant huge crowds and overcrowding. Good parking. Had rapid entrance tickets but no sign to tell us to avoid two solid queues.
A good variety of everything, but far too many similar eateries and HARDLY ANY PLACES TO SIT. As most people were 60 plus this was very annoying; the only marquee where one could eat pleasantly in the shade was far too limiting.
A lot of the goods were very expensive, but bargains could be found.
We left about 2pm to avoid what was obviously going to be a horrendous end to the event judging from the number of cars.
A good day out.

Review of The Garden Show at Firle Place
This year there were not as many stalls as last year. I found the plants on offer were almost all
herbaceous and apart from an amazing herb stall there were not many specialist growers.
Far too many cheap clothes and jewellery stands. I may give it a miss next time.

Review of Firle Vintage Summer Fair 2017
Not as advertised IMO. Should have read Boot sale with fun fair and classic cars. Where was the learn flower arranging, woodwork and cookery ? I did manage to find the 'talk' on Bee Keeping, which was a man selling honey , willing to talk about his bees when not selling... I feel ripped off, will not recommend or be back.
