We enjoyed the first DJ immensely and were looking forward to dancing throughout the evening. However, after 10minutes of Isa (live), we felt compelled to leave. Techno is definitely not what we came for and were too disappointed to hang around outside for 2 hours, to hear Jon DeSilva. We failed to understand why a Techno DJ (Isa) and an accomplished House DJ (Jon DeSilva) were featured on the same bill.

Good band, just not Funky!
Well, we enjoyed our evening out at the Carlton Club, as usual, an eclectic crowd. However our expected rare 'funk' infusion didn't materialise. The band were excellent musicians and punters seemed to be enjoying the dancing, but mostly to Northern Soul covers! Not a James Brown or Average White Band number graced our funk starved ear drums! Not quite what my funky partner and I had eagerly hoped to experience. Ahh well maybe the band should rethink their Monika?

Good band. Great musicians. Just not Funk!
We went along expecting an evening of Average White band or James Brown covers, at least some 'slap bass', or funk rhythm guitar riffs. However the sets seemed to be aimed at a Northern Soul crowd! Rare Motown and Detroit 60's stylie. Well played, admittedly, but just not funky, in a 70's kinda groove! Maybe change the bands name? 🤷🏻🤷‍♀️

We love funked it up! Been many times now and always have a brilliant night! Great musicians playing all the best tunes to get you up dancing! Carlton Club is a fab venue with a friendly crowd too!

Funked It Up never disappoint. Great set including some stone cold northern soul classics, finishing with a couple of dunked up 80s pop favourites and an excellent tribute to Tina Turner. My body hurts today but my heart is full. 5 funky stars
