Review of Ska Train Festival

Overall rating: 5

What an amazing night and great value for money. We arrived early and thankfully we did because Big 10 were the first to go on and instantly created a buzzing, bouncy atmosphere as they played their selection of 2-tone classics. I've never seen the first band get such a good response but the credit is due to Big 10 for their energy and the dj Ska N Mash would worked the audience marvellously. The New Town Kings followed with their original material which always seems to go down well, they've supported some great bands and always managed to get people engaged in their sets. The third band were the Dualers, the whole band, and what a fantastic act they were, playing a huge amount of their own material from the last 2 albums but also 3 covers including a classic from Bob Marley. Last band of the night was the original rude boy himself Neville Staple, former toaster with the Specials, with his band who delivered some excellent Specials numbers as well as a few well chosen ska tracks. The crowd absolutely loved him, singing and dancing away, it was a pure bit of history seeing him on stage, long may it continue.
A great night, a great venue, amazing turn-around of bands (just enough time to get another beer), wonderful dj, terrific sound system, I'm definitely up for this again next year!
