Southend on Sea is home to the amazing estuary beaches, it's own international airport and the world's longest pleasure pier. But Southend on Sea also has something very special, a small group of volunteers who dedicate their time for the fight against Cancer. Twelve volunteers from all walks of life (some teachers, some managers, some NHS staff) all whom have busy lives but come together to organise a 24 hour event call Relay For Life. This is a team challenge over 24 hours, don't be alarmed were not signing you up for that! But those guys who are doing it need to be entertained and so the Southend Relay Summer Festival was born to entertain those taking on the challenge but given that every penny raised at the event goes to Cancer Research UK, why not open the entertainment out to the public! So in 2017 we gave it a go and Southend Relay Summer Festival was born (the only non commercial festival in the area). The music was brilliant especially at night with DJ Rick Live but the weather wasn't kind to us. So this year were giving it a go again with a twist, we've got presenter Sly Fox and DJ Rick Live (Kiss FM) building the atmosphere and our headliners include Union J and Dane Bowers to name a couple. We really hope you will buy tickets and thoroughly enjoy the day they're just £12 plus the fee worthwhile especially as they go to such a good cause.
