This month sees a rare visit on UK soil from Aaron Funk, the prolific Canadian DJ and producer best known for his ground-breaking work as Venetian Snares.

In terms of legends, they don't come much bigger. Funk has recorded a total of 22 albums (most released through Mike Paradinas' pioneering Planet Mu label, 20 singles and has been credited by the late John Peel as the man responsible for re-inventing breakcore.

His otherworldly sound is hard to place, covering ground including dark orchestral, hyper-speed jungle and grating noise and often recorded in odd time signatures such as 7/4... furious rhythms that still retain a killer dancefloor edge.

February 26th sees Mr Funk play Manchester’s Jabez Clegg, in his first ever Manchester live show. Supporting him on this unmissable occasion will be electronic producer Neil Landstrum, and the ever elusive VHS Head.

Tickets for Venetian Snares at Jabez Clegg are available through Skiddle, but hurry – there are just a few left!

Down South? Catch Venetian Snares at Brighton’s Coalition on February 24th, where support comes from DJ Scotch Egg.

Tickets for Venetian Snares at Coalition are available here.
