Brum is going all Balearic, as in three days time the city will be swapping the industrial revolution shaped terrain for a sunset framed Ibizan paradise. Well not quite, but musically speaking the city has an event which harks back to the past and present of the white isle with a stunning ensemble of talent shared between three of the island’s most revered institutions, Cream, Space and Cafe Mambo, across a five roomed event.
Space boasts the stars of today, with Chilean chanteuse Dinky, Timo Maas and Loco Dice production cohort Martin Buttrich and Mr Space himself, Jonathan Ulysses, among the starlets bringing an underground thud to the Institute. Cream will be there and doffing its cap to the earlier sounds of its near two decade stint on the island, as legends Danny Rampling and Brandon Block cue up the classics. And if all this is that little bit too much, the soothing grooves of Andy Baxter and Danny Whitehead will be repping Cafe Mambo.
There’s also a fourth arean which will be raising the temperature in more ways than worse, with the presence of hedonistic naysayers Brothel. As the name suggests these party impresarios have based their burgeoning reputation on a hot and heady mix of sex and music, with raunchy dancers, a cast of exotic extras a general air of fetishised fantasy permeating the room it harks back to Ibiza’s wilder past. With today being National Orgasms day (really), it’s the perfect tonic to push your weekend that little bit further.
