The song, A Room With A Zoo by soul collective The Winachi Tribe, features Flanagan as 'Wolfman Hilton' the shaman leading the band's singer Liam Croker on a white horse through the California desert in a narcotics-induced dream.
The video was shot in Los Angeles after the band's manager, Harry Bridgen, called to see his buddy Flanagan on his Malibu ranch.
He asked the Scottish actor if he fancied a cameo on a music video by the group, but instead Flanagan has ended up staring in a 10-minute short film to accompany the song.
Flanagan - who plays Filip "Chibs" Telford in Sons of Anarchy, and has also appeared in Hollywood movies Braveheart, Face/Off, Gladiator, Alien vs. Predator, and the Smokin' Aces series - is a fan of the Manchester group's music, and hinted on twitter at an appearance at their Glasgow show.
Harry Bridgen adds: "Being a bit cheeky, I just asked if Tom would be in a music video for them.
"I wasn't even sure what the video was going to be, at that point - but Tom was between shows, and his involvement would attract others."
Flanagan agreed that a video could be shot on his ranch, and so Bridgen tracked down Mancunian ex-pat and filmmaker Trevor Miller to come up with the concept - which he did on time out from working on a feature film with Pierce Brosnan.
Winachi Tribe frontman Liam Crocker said "Scotland was first to embrace The Winachi Tribe, First Fan Pages on Social Networks, so we're really excited about this gig...feels like a homecoming"
