Picturesound and Generator bring you the biggest night The Ferret in Preston has seen for some time, The Mapped Out Tour, featuring headliners THE STRUTS.
Dropping into the Ferret as part of a 24 date UK summer tour, supporting the release of their imminent first album, The Struts - signed to Virgin EMI Records - are a quintessentially English rock band, wearing their influences on their sleeve whilst bringing their own wit and style to bear. Their frontman was born to be onstage, with shades of Freddie Mercury, Bobby Gillespie and Noel Fielding, a great voice and presence. The band have elements of Queen, Primal Scream, The Libertines, The Killers, and have become noted for their Youtube covers and rock anthems like Could Have Been Me and I Just Know.
With a combination of much-missed old-fashioned showmanship, stadium sized tunes and dazzling musicianship, The Struts are here to inject a rich shot of colour into UK guitar music?s currently grey landscape.
Support comes from Then Thickens and Little Icarus.
THEN THICKENS are already making big waves in our little pond, and their tiny legs are ready to make the leap into the wider world. They're getting a lot of attention for their singles Restart My Heart, Tiny Legs and Death Cap and are on Hatch Records. Front man Jon-lee Martin and co. are on the verge of huge things and by next year you may be seeing them as headliners on a tour just like this.
LITTLE ICARUS haven't been around for long, but have already endeared themselves to the Preston live scene, with their brand of infectious and heartfelt indie-pop. Their debut album is due out in 2014 and will undoubtedly cement them as a band to take note of.
