Why We're Fundraising

We are fortunate enough to live in a city with a world renowned children's hospital, who have given so much to Liverpool as well as surrounding areas. We take great pride in what Alder Hey does and would like to give back through this event.

Additionally, we want this to be a celebration of everything that Ted has achieved and continues to achieve, whilst raising much-needed funds and awareness for Team Ted and Alder Hey. On a personal level Ted is inspirational, so the opportunity to work together on Team Ted's Got Talent is something I take great pride in.

Its been an amazing journey, interacting with organisations, speaking with other Alder Hey ambassadors, working with artists, creating social media pages, and more. I believe in the cause and believe in the event - its a privilege and rewarding experience to work alongside Ted and his mum.

Superstar Ted

We have reached out to one of Alder Hey's ambassadors, Ted McCaffery, to support us with this event. Ted was admitted to Alder Hey himself for heart complications, which required surgery to correct. Ted in return, ran a triathlon, which raised £1000. Since then, Ted, with the support of his mother, Jo, have gone on to raise much needed awareness/funding for Alder Hey. In recognition of his contribution, Ted was awarded the LIDL's Young Fundraiser Of The Year Award, at the Pride Of Britain Awards 2014.

They have now set up their own volunteering network with Alder Hey called Team Ted, and as a result have now raised over £74,000 with campaigns such as the #Show Us Your Bear social media campaign.

About Team Teds Got Talent

The event I am running is for Alder Hey Children's Hospital with *deep breath* superstar fundraiser, Pride of Britain winner, Prime Minister Point of Light Winner, and Alder Hey Ambassador Ted McCaffery (He's only 10) - information regarding Team Ted can be found on the links below.

The event is in Teds name - Team Teds Got Talent, which is a variety event that will engage and inspire a core age range of 11-18 year olds from schools, colleges and grassroots organisations, by bringing together multiple artists/acts to showcase the community work and opportunities they provide.

Team Ted's Got Talent will provide an inspirational platform for digital, performance and creative sectors, including confidence, teamwork and leadership.

The event will encourage the young people to create a vision for their futures and develop aspirations to meet and tackle new challenges. We hope to build on/create community values, offer opportunities for young people and fundamentally raise funds for Alder Hey. This tri-fold approach means we will not only inspire but also build a network of partners that can build the event into the future.

My target is to engage with between 100-200 young people and families on the night of the event.

The project will be promoted through schools, colleges and grassroots organisations, whilst I have made contact with numerous organizational bodies within the education/youth sector who are willing to offer support/guidance and time towards the event.
