Bubbling within the underground of Liverpool for the past five and a half years has been mUmU, one of the nation's finest tastemakers of house and techno which has seen stints in London and Ibiza as well. They've had a nomadic experience in the city, setting up camp in a plethora of venues that includes the Picket Warehouse, the now sadly defunct Magnet, and the city's latest underground jewel Haus Warehouse, yet managing to transplant their unique vibe to each and every one.

Saturday 26th October sees them curate an event that is symptomatic of their pedigree, bringing in Berlin bastions Pan-Pot and Nick Hoppner alongside a live performance form man of the moment Tom Demac, the trio combining with the litany of groove loving residents and friends that have helped establish the club as such an integral component of the clubbing scene.

Henry St Social are a duo that fall into that category. Made up of Will Hollyoaks and Rory Palmer, they're residents of mUmU's sister soiree Shelter and frequent selectors for the main event too, with their savvy grasp of house across the ages proving an invaluable caveat in the club's grounding. With them amongst the support on the 26th, when mUmU add a fancy dress zeal to their usual underground, we decided to press them for a mix (listen above) and see what was cooking in their manor:

Is this reflective of your style as a DJ and what you would play at mUmU?

Will - The mix is a selection of tunes that have been big for us over the summer months. I'd say the mix is more the type of sound we play at shelter. We tend to play a little deeper at mUmU.

Rory - Yeah, we considered going really chin-strokey but ultimately ended up going with the tracks that we don't leave home without.

What other gigs have you got coming up soon?

Will - The gig coming up that we're really excited about is for mUmU, their fancy dress Halloween party on the 26th October. Berghain's Nick Höppner and Pan Pot will be getting their smash on in the main room, its gonna get rowdy. Then Shelter will be hosting the after party with Tom Demac playing a live set.

Rory - We've also got a little trip over to Manchester on November 2nd to play the Mi Casa Halloween party. Where we'll be playing along side Hot Creations new signing Mykle Haze.

Any production/studio activity to let us know about?

Will - We have our debut record 'Cut it out' out now on Carpe Diem Musica (Head here to buy, listen below). We were really pleased when we found out DJ Caspa was supporting it. Even going as far as putting it in a promo mix of his.

Rory - We're also really looking forward to our second release which is a remix of CDC's 'Get Up', coming out late November/early December, which is also on Carpe Diem Musica. We've been writing new tracks for our follow up EP so fingers crossed that will be dropping early next year.

And finally, what else lies in the future for you?

Will - 2013 has been a great year for us so far. We've had our first record released and played some fantastic gigs. There are a few gigs that stick in the memory though. Our debut at The Garage in Leeds and playing outside in the sunshine at the day/night mUmU party's were ridiculously good. But warming up for Detroit Swindle at Shelter definitely has to be the highlight.

Rory - Yeah, we're massive fans of theirs so it was an odd sensation playing with them looking over our shoulders! In 2014 we hope to push on with some big bookings for Shelter. Whilst mUmU has the techno sound on lockdown there's still a whole heap of exciting new talent that we want to bring to Liverpool.

As well as the gigs, we'll be committing to some serious studio time during the winter working on releases for our home label Carpe Diem Musica as well as some other labels which will have to remain under wraps for the moment - So basically watch this space!
