Godskitchen - Armin van Buuren 9hrs @ Air 26/03/04

My favourite DJ for 9hrs. What more could I ask for? The last 9hr set at Godskitchen by Armin was by far the best night I've ever had, and I was anticipating this to be as good. He didn't disappoint. An amazing night of quality trance, combined with the amazing settings of Godskitchen this was the quintessential of all nights.

Arriving at the club at 10:45pm, I was incredibly eager to get in. To my surprise there was hardly a queue. The reason? Everybody was already in there, listening to the man himself. Never have I seen a club so busy at that time or with such an amazing atmosphere so early on. The weeks and weeks of anticipation had so been worth it. Huge plasma screens were behind the DJ stand, podium dancers were strutting their stuff, and the crowd was going absolutely crazy.

One person seemed to be enjoying himself more than anybody else there, Armin van Buuren. His sheer enthusiasm is amazing. Jumping up and down, getting the crowd going, he is such a great entertainer behind those decks. Coupled with amazing technical ability and superb tune selection, that is why he was voted the world's 3rd best DJ, and it is clear to see why. Not one tune was a let down. Every single one was amazing. There was no rest bite. Beginning slightly progressive, and banging it out from about 11pm, there was never a dull moment, and getting harder towards the end further kept me held in the music. According to Godskitchen he was meant to finish at 6am, but Armin wasn't ready, and kept on playing till 6:30am. I'm sure even then he wanted to continue. The dance floor was still rammed, and he finished with his own Sound of Goodbye, which tore the roof off.

If ever you have a chance to watch Armin, then do it. For me, this was one of the best sets I have ever heard, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Godskitchen yet again proving they can throw the best parties.
