The underground music scene is a funny old business, and most people, it has to be said, don't last out for very long. Survival is a matter of staying ahead of the curve whilst staying true to your roots at all times. Audiences are knowledgeable, critical, often unforgiving, and perpetually in search of something different. The competition is insane. Around every corner lurk journalists, bloggers and commentators who are always eager and willing to pronounce the death of another genre. 25 years at the top of your game is a feat very few musicians in any field manage to accomplish.

Fabio & Grooverider are two such musicians, perhaps because their own musical influences include pretty much everything. As residents at almost all of the drum n' bass scene's most innovative and illustrious nights, they developed unique hybrids of those influences that became the foundations for entirely new scenes, not just once, but time and time again. And of course, they were Saturday night hosts at one of the world's best known radio stations for well over a decade. Standard. 25 years since they set out, they are as passionate about what they do as when they started, and remain cornerstones of the scene's development.

Shut That Shit Down, on the other hand, hasn't even been around for five minutes. But, having said that, it hasn't done too badly for itself. Reasonably tidy efforts on the first three outings have won the appreciation of punters and performers alike, so much so that moves are afoot to take the event to a larger venue in the autumn. Indeed, this will be the last chance you get to check out the event in it's original home at the Rhythm Factory, a mid-size venue that's rapidly becoming an east London institution, well-reviewed and admired for it's high-end programming but unpretentious, relaxed vibe and off-the-beaten-track feel.

On Friday 2nd August, Shut That Shit Down will be inviting Fabio & Grooverider, alongside Doc Scott, Bailey and Bryan Gee, each a legend in their own right, to play at our last event at Rhythm Factory, before we begin our second chapter. And as a thank you to everyone who has supported us so far, we'll be letting you in for a tenner on the door. One crisp shiny £10 note. Not only that, but when the event goes on sale on Friday 28th June, we've got 50 early-bird advance £5 tickets up for grabs, with a second advance tier at £8. So come and check us out while you still can at this unique venue, and join us at the beginning of new adventures.

Shut That Shit Down… serious about drum n' bass.
