The Chemical Brothers told us it began in Africa, and whilst that thunderous tribal house sound had little to do with the continent's rich tapestry of music there's plenty of producers who've mined the litany of aural treasures for their own grooves. One of which is Debruit.
His offbeat rhythms and otherworldly funk has been big since the tail end of the last decade, with XLR8R early fans back in 2008. It's a sound described as fermenting the best of Congolese sound systems, downtown L.A. block parties gone wrong, haze filled Kingston recording studios and freaky Tunisian backstreet souks - exotic enough to whet our appetites.
He's heading to the North West of the UK this Easter to bring his new live show to Liverpool and Manchester (catch a snippet of what to expect above), touching down at Constellations on Saturday April 4th and then for Bananna Hill at the Soup Kitchen on Sunday 5th respectively (click the dates for tickets to each respective show).
