The end of January sees Leeds' clubbing pedigree further enhanced by the addition of The Mint Warehouse; a new 1000 capacity club from the team behind the award winning Mint Club.
Famous for its Funktion-One soundsystem, cutting edge 'Disco Panel' lighting and and marathon sets from the world's biggest DJs, Mint Club is well established as one of the region's best small clubs.
Now the team behind Mint Club are going one bigger, with the opening of The Mint Warehouse. Located on Water Lane a few minutes away from Leeds railway station, the new venue will boast double the capacity of Mint Club, with high spec sound and lighting in the form of Funktion One rigs and advanced visual systems. There'll be an outdoor terrace kitted out for daytime parties, with some huge summer bookings on the way.
The club will officially open on January 27th, when Nicolas Jaar stops off at the brand new venue as part of his Clown and Sunset 'Don't Break My Love' tour. As one of the most exciting young artists in the world, the New York born DJ and Producer gained widespread recognition at the age of just 17 when he released 'The Student EP' on Wolf and Lamb music. The EP featured a remix by Seth Troxler, who called Jaar "one of the most talented minds dance music is about to see develop".
Now still only 21, the impressive artist has set up his own forward thinking label 'Clown and Sunset', reserved for his most intimate work. And it's this intricate, intimate style that Nico brings to Leeds on January 27th for what's set to be a truly memorable opening night for this new club. Advance tickets are now sold out, but there will be a limited number on the door, so get down early to guarantee entry.
The same weekend sees Leeds' own Metropolis team up with Bigger than Barry to test the Funktion One system to its limits with an impressive line up of electronic talent headlined by Sub Focus and featuring Joker, Jackmaster, North Base and more. Tickets for that event are £15 and available through Skiddle now. Buy tickets for Metropolis and Bigger Than Barry at Mint Warehouse.
More pounding basslines are guaranteed on February 10th, when Jungle Jam celebrate their 7th birthday with the help of Goldie, Hazard, Nicky Blackmarket and more. Tickets and the full line-up are available here.
The high profile bookings continue throughout 2012, with the likes of Maya Jane Coles (11th Feb), Marco Carola (10th March), Derrick Carter (24th March) and Laurent Garnier (6th April) amongst the artists already lining up to appear at The Mint Warehouse over the next few months.
