An annual concert in aid of Amnesty International is this year a Symphony of Support for Afghan Woman featuring an orchestra led by violinist Roderick Long and conducted by Robert Dick. They are both natives of Edinburgh, as is cellist Lindsay Martindale, who has organised the event. Her concerts in support of Amnesty date back to 2007 when she was moved to help in the campaign to help political prisoners in Burma with a chamber music recital in the company of two pianists. Now an Edinburgh institution, this year's concert will take place on Sunday, June 23, in the Reid Concert Hall of Edinburgh University at Bristo Square from 7.30pm and will feature music by Wagner, Tchaikovsky and Walton.
