Entice make their debut at The White House, Clapham with one of Kiss FM's most aspiring up and coming DJs - Martin Archer

Martin Archer is an outstanding radio presenter currently presenting Evenings on Kiss.

He started out in 2006 when he was nominated for Best Male Presenter and Best Entertainment Programme at the Radio 1 Student Radio Awards. Spurred on by this recognition he worked hard to master production and creative radio which resulted in him programming and voicing Radio HMV. This led to him being spotted by Kiss 100 where he was signed up to present early breakfast.

Since then he has delivered excellent listening figures and earned the position of one of the stations leading presenters who can regularly be heard presenting the Breakfast show in addition to his regular evening slot.

Entice caught up with the man himself to ask him a few questions...

What inspired you to become a dj/presenter?

MARTIN ARCHER:
I've always loved listening to music on the radio for as long as I've known, I remember when I first got a hi-fi for my room and getting excited tuning the radio to all the different stations I wanted to listen to. Naturally I got involved in amateur radio at a fairly young age, fell in love with playing music on it and talking about it and I guess it all just snowballed from there. DJing sort of came off the radio thing really probably starting off when I was at university.

What's been the highlight of your career so far?

MARTIN ARCHER:
It's hard to pick just one thing as I've relished so many different challenges that have been thrown at me. I guess my first few WiiJ gigs were pretty special (that's DJing using Nintendo Wiimotes i.e. DJing by waving my arms around) as people were so baffled about what I was doing with the controllers in my hands but as soon as they cottoned on they were amazed. On the radio presenting a national Breakfast Show when I've covered for Rickie, Melvin & Charlie has been a real highlight, and certainly a challenge when the riot broke out during a stint on that show. I've also really loved some of the public lectures I've given about DJing, especially a series I did recently to 3,000 18 year old. So all quite varied.

Tell us about your first ever DJing gig. Do you remember it?

MARTIN ARCHER:
The first DJ gig I can remember was when I was at uni. It was the last day of term before the Christmas break and I was doing a special radio show live from the student union at lunchtime. After the show, the head of the union's entertainments came up to me and asked if I wanted to DJ that night after Sara Cox. I said yes and I seem to remember it going well.

What would you say are your favourite 3 tracks of all time?

MARTIN ARCHER:
I'm useless at questions like these, there are just too many good tunes in the history of music and it really depends on mood. Sorry.

Are you looking forward to celebrating NYE with us at The White House,
What can we expect to hear from you set-wise?

MARTIN ARCHER:
Yes i cannot wait!! There'll be a good amount of stuff that you'd usually hear on my Kiss FM evening show, definitely some classics plus crazy remixes of old skool tracks. I don't like to keep to just one genre, so a bit of everything really to dance and sing along to.

-----------

We look forward to seeing you on NYE!!
