8. Beaches

We have plenty of stunning beaches, from secluded ones where you can just get away from it, to busy ones where you can enjoy people watching and ice cream. So get your dookers oot and go for a paddle.

7. Hire a bike and get about

Bute has a great network of roads that are safe and you have the added bonus that we don?t have too many hills. It really is easy to get about on Bute.

6. Get wild with the natives

We are not talking about the locals (though they can get pretty wild), but the abundance of wildlife the island has to offer. From seals and otters to golden eagles and basking sharks, get out there and you never know what you might find round the next corner.

5. Go wild camp

There are plenty of remote spots from the beach at Straad to Glencallums Bay. So just get out there pitch your tent and enjoy the best of Bute.

4. Catch your dinner

You are spoilt for fishing options on Bute. Either get hooked into some mackerel on the wealth of coastline the island has to offer or try your hand at trout fishing at Loch Fad, which has everything for the beginner right up to the expert fisherman.

3. Take a tour of Bute Brew Co

Find out how the local beer is made and enjoy a free sample of the selection of beers they have to offer. (They'll be serving their beer at ButeFest this year too!) Why not treat yourself to some fantastic food courtesy of Greenfry while you are there?

2. Visit Mount Stuart

An astounding Victorian Gothic mansion and one of the world?s great houses within magnificent grounds. From glinting horoscope ceilings, a breath-taking marble chapel, a swimming pool, a secret passage, and an original First Folio of Shakespeare?s plays, Mount Stuart has something for everyone.
