Manchester Music Icon headlines Levenshulme Festival

The Manchester Music icon Vinny Peculiar will headline the opening weekend celebrations of this years 2011 Levenshulme Festival. The Salford based singer-song writer, artist and Poet will be showcasing songs from his new album OTHER PEOPLE LIKE ME, which features the likes of Bonehead from Oasis. This special Manchester date is part of his UK tour to promote the album which is his seventh album.

When asked to describe his feeling about playing the Levenshulme Festival, Vinny replied I'm looking forward to being part of the festival, I love the intimacy of the venue. I will be joined onstage by Liverpool singer/pianist Amy Smith aka The English Crumpet for some breathless re-interpretations of the back catalogue and well as songs from new album Other People Like Me. Amy and I embark on a full UK in November, this show will be the perfect warm up. Visit www.vinnypeculiar.co.uk for updates, gigs, free downloads.

Vinny is described in the press as a cross between Andy Warhol and Jarvis Cocker. He has shared stages with the likes of The Killers and British Sea Power and his numerous bands have included the members of The Smiths, The Fall and Oasis. Lawrence Hennigan from the Levenshulme Festival said This is a major coup for the festival, his UK tour features some of the UKs major venues, which include the likes of 2,000 capacity 02 Academy in Newcastle. So to have him play a intimate gig in the newly refurbished first floor acoustic room of m19 is really exciting. It is only a 100 capacity venue and tickets are selling very fast.

Tickets for the gig are just £5 in advance and are available online at www.m19bar.com or in person at The Union Pub, 843 Stockport Road, Levenshulme.

Support comes from The English Crumpet, local Levenshulme singer songwriter Tracey Browne, The Statements and the Big I am.

The Levenshulme Festival runs from Friday 6 October to Sunday 6 November, with over 120 events at 45 venues over 16 days it is one of Europes biggest and longest running community festivals.
