GDPR FAQ's

What is GDPR

The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is an important piece of legislation that is designed to strengthen and unify data protection laws for all individuals within the European Union. The regulation will become effective and enforceable on the 25th May 2018

What are my rights?

Under the GDPR your rights have changed to the following:

  • Right to be informed
  • Right of access
  • Right to rectification
  • Right to erasure
  • Right to restrict processing
  • Right to data portability
  • Right to object

What are Skiddle doing to protect my data?

We have always been dedicated to keeping your data secure under the Data Protection Act. Under the new GDPR we have tightened up our in house policies and changed our privacy policy. We believe you should always know what data we hold on you, what we do with that data, and how you can control it. Our new privacy policy outlines how Skiddle do this and can be found here.

Why can I trust using Skiddle's website and app?

As a company we are very "customer first" focused and this includes the data which we hold about you. We take the safety of your data very seriously and have complied with all data regulations both pre and post GDPR. We are transparent with what data we do hold on you and why we need this, with our Privacy Policy explaining this in more detail.

How do I find out what data Skiddle hold on me and where can I access this?

We are honest and upfront with our customers, we have never nor ever will receive customer data other than our own means. You can get hold of all the data Skiddle hold on you by submitting a Subject Access Request, also known as a SAR, by emailing dataprotection@skiddle.com

Why am I receiving e-flyers

You will have been added to our marketing database when you either signed up or placed and order with us. This "soft opt-in" is legal under GDPR, and you have had the option to Opt Out of Skiddle marketing at this point. If you no longer wish to receive eflyers or any other marketing from Skiddle, you can edit your preference here, or click the unsubscribe link in any marketing email we send to you.

Where can I opt out of Skiddle marketing?

You can opt out of your marketing preferences in your profile, or if you receive any marketing from us you will have the option to unsubscribe at the bottom of every email. You can also opt out of marketing on the checkout process each time you purchase a ticket. We have made the opt out of marketing option much easier to do.

How can I update my preferences?

You can edit all of your preferences in your profile section, there you will see a list of marketing you have agreed to receive. If you no longer wish to receive these marketing emails then you can simply remove yourself from the list. You can also update any promoter marketing you are signed up for.

What is promoter marketing?

When you placed an order you would have the option to opt in or out of promoter marketing. If you opted-in the promoter will send you marketing directly (not through Skiddle). If you wish to opt-out you can edit you preferences which we then pass onto the promoter, or you can opt-out directly with the promoters themselves.

I am opted out of marketing but I'm still receiving communication about the event i'm attending?

This is correct, we will still need to send you emails regarding your order for instance order confirmation; tickets, or informing you the event is cancelled. The promoter may also send you emails regarding the event for instance line up changes; entry times or dietary requirements (for events with meals booked). If you are receiving any marketing directly from the promoter where you have opted out, then please contact us and report this. Our contact number and email address is below.

What changes have Skiddle made to become GDPR compliant?

We have been working hard to ensure we are compliant with GDPR. We have reviewed and updated all our in house policies, trained staff, and ensured any third party services we use are also GDPR compliant. We have also made changes to the website to give you more control about what marketing you want to receive, and make is easy if you no longer wish to receive these.

What do I do if I have a complaint about my data?

If you have a complaint regarding your data you can contact the ICO, but we would appreciate it if you could please contact us first to help resolve any issues. You can contact us on 03333 01 01 01 or you can email dataprotection@skiddle.com.

How do I remove my account?

If you no longer wish to have an account with Skiddle then you can delete your account in your profile section here.

This will remove your profile and you will no longer receive any marketing from Skiddle.

If you wish to purchase from us in the future you can re-join or checkout as a guest, or you can re sign up without purchasing a ticket through our website.
