Skiddle: The UK's biggest guide to festivals

There's so many amazing festivals out there but it can be difficult to work out which festivals you're going to attend. There's so many things to take into consideration - the location of the festival, the size of the festival, the genre of music, whether it's family friendly and the type of facilities onsite.

Skiddle's new Festivals Finder is here to make the process that bit easier. Simply use the Festivals Finder's unique festival search, which include options allowing you to search for festivals based on filters such as location; month; genres; type; size; accommodation; amenities and even the artists you've liked on Facebook!

MistaJam is a DJ that transcends genre, he simply deploys his perfected mixing style to anything with a big beat, a hefty bassline, and a large slice of melody.

His fearless approach to delivering the ultimate set has seen his multitudinous supporters grow as he’s risen through the ranks of BBC 1Xtra and Radio 1 with dizzying rapidity.

The Nottingham born Pete Dalton, who started in the game at the mere age of 14 cut his teeth working with local youth soundsystems playing multi-genre sets, working with local rap crews, later moving on to sountracking house parties, youth clubs, carnivals, pirate radio shows and such. All this took place whilst studying for his GCSE’s and holding down weekend jobs, including stints at a café in the budget clothing store C&A and music shop MVC, although apparently he has nothing to do with the demise of both chains.

Mistajam has also been busy writing for magazines such as Grandslam & Big Daddy whilst simultaneously becoming the go-to DJ for acts from both the US and UK, and putting on many events in Nottingham along with his then business partner Joe Buhdha, there’s no denying that Mistajam is a bloody hard worker. In fact, up until the end of 2007 you may even have bought a loan from him over the phone during his stint at finance company Capital One, where he held a nine-to-five post until his life as a grime DJ finally began to pay.

Joining BBC Radio 1Xtra in 2005 after being talent scouted at one of his own Nottingham events to host an overnight Thursday night HipHop show, his attempts at injecting humour and taking musical risks made him stick out from the crowd. Moving up the ladder onto other, higher profile radio slots to showcase the cross genre expertise he’s had since his youth has subsequently led to the peak time evening slot he now holds.

Focusing on breaking new music and shining a light on underground artists deserving of mainstream exposure, MistaJam is now regarded as one of the go-to-men for breaking new music in British radio. Just ask any of his peers who highly regard and follow his tips or any of the artists he’s help expose to a wider audience or even the record number of listeners Jam has managed to attract to his show.

Since 2008, Mistajam has also held down a weekly show on generation defining station Radio 1. His Saturday night slots feature his passionate dispatching of Dubstep and Bass music to the masses. Mistajam has been instrumental in championing the Dubstep and Bass music scene on national radio, helping propel underground genres into the mainstream consciousness without selling out along the way.

With a Djing style that takes in elements of Jazzy Jeff, John Peel, David Rodigan, Pete Tong, Trevor Nelson, and er, Terry Wogan, Mistajam’ has crafted for himself a style and sound that remains unmatchable, peerless among his contemporaries.

MistaJam has found himself, and rightly so, in the Best DJ category for the 2013 Bass Music Awards in association with Skiddle.
