The Essential Mix is coming to Carlisle with Calvin Harris!

Uber’s One Big afterparty showcase gets even bigger with a double header of staggering news!

With Radio One in town for the huge One Big Weekend, Uber have managed to persuade them to document a little bit more of Carlisle’s musical contributions for the Nation’s ears.

Calvin Harris’ set from the evening will be recorded and for broadcast a week later for his, and Carlisle’s, first ever essential mix!

Having ran for over twenty years, the Essential Mix still acts as the barometer of quality for dance music, spotlighting the musical selections of the world’s most legendary, forward thinking and popular DJs around. With over 500 incumbents of the honour since the inception of it in 1991, it has helped define the artistic boundaries and concepts of what a DJ mix represents, and is partially responsible for the elevation of both the DJ mix compilation and the exalted status music selectors now deservedly enjoy.

But that’s not all; joining Calvin, Pete and Riva on the night will be one of Uber’s most long standing favourite DJs, the irrepressible Yousef. Currently in the process of finalising his second album, Yousef has been a keen part of Carlisle’s history since the last century, when in his early Cream days one of the first out of town gigs he ever took was in the city.

Since then he’s gone onto become a wildly heralded artist and DJ across the globe, his breathtaking ‘Come Home’ single on Sven Vath’s Cocoon imprint was one of the domineering anthems of the last two years and he’s feted across continents for his sumptuous sets of groove heavy house an techno. He smashes it each and every time he plays Uber, and adds the final touches to a scintillating smorgasbord of talent on offer.
