Norman Cook, or as most of us know him, Fatboy Slim, is celebrating four decades in the game this year with the launch of his debut book, It Ain’t Over… ’Til the Fatboy Sings, a bold, highly illustrated coffee-table book which chronicles his extraordinary journey through personal photographs, memorabilia, objects, awards and art.
In true fashion, the legendary producer is celebrating the release in style, with an intimate one-night-only event at the Theatre Royal in Brighton on Tuesday 14th October, and showcasing a side of himself audiences rarely get to see.
With “candid conversation, untold stories and rare insights into the man behind some of dance music’s most iconic tracks,” the evening will feature a live conversation with Norman, hosted by TV and radio presenter, podcaster, writer and comedian Guy Lloyd, plus an audience Q&A and a chance to meet him in person at an exclusive signing.
Norman says: “This year I'll have been in showbiz for 40 years, and to celebrate that we thought we'd create a big book full of stuff which I've kept over the years.
"Having played many energetic sets in Brighton before, I’m really excited to appear in one of my favourite venues for something a little different this time. It’ll be nice to get up close and personal with the audience in a beautiful setting and to share some of my stories from what’s been a rollercoaster career; there’s a lot to unpack, so strap yourselves in!”
Expect stories behind generation-defining anthems like Praise You and Right Here, Right Now, and memories from a career that took a Bromley boy from indie days with The Housemartins, through hip-hop and acid jazz with Beats International and Freakpower, to global superstardom as Fatboy Slim.
What was on the VHS that changed his life? How does a black and white photo connect him to a British Prime Minister? And which bedroom item was named after him?
Enjoy this rare opportunity to experience Fatboy Slim as you've never seen him before - out from behind the decks and sharing the stories, wit and wisdom that have fuelled a lifetime of musical innovation.
Then carry on the party at home by picking up your own copy of the book, signed by the man himself, and flick through pages full of memories that’ll no doubt spark your own.
Pre-sale tickets go live on 17th July at 10am, with general sale on 18th July at 10am. Head to his website, sign up, get in early, and join Norman for a night celebrating four decades of dancefloor magic.
