Yousef’s Circus project has been an Easter Bank Holiday staple in Liverpool for as long as most can remember, a consistently brilliant bastion of all things house and techno year upon year. This edition on Sunday 4th April, at East Village Arts Club, continues that long standing benchmark of excellence with aplomb.
Yousef will go back to back with Eats Everything, the duo’s chemistry in playing together having been demonstrated at a number of clubs in the past year, including a stint at Circus in 2014 (have a listen to the set below).
The success of it is down to a litany of shared characteristics in style and personality behind the decks – both are energetic performers, technically world class and able to switch from sounds with deft ease – but equally different in scope enough for the contrast to combine brilliantly. Expect fireworks when the duo convene in the theatre.
Elsewhere there’s plenty of underground talent on offer, with French favourite DJ Tennis and Danish synth superstar Kolsch both making debuts. German groove merchant Butch (read our quite frankly utterly bonkers interview with him here) and Irish techno talisman Matador both return to the club.
As ever the resident roster will be in full effect, with Lewis Boardman and Scott Lewis delivering the goods. Head here to grab your tickets for Circus.
