THE FACE magazine is ceasing operations.
Sharing the news on Instagram on Friday (27th March), the culture magazine said: “Yep, the rumours are true: THE FACE is closing.”
On the mag’s relaunch in 2019, the post reads: “The mission was to honour the magazine’s iconic legacy while making people feel excited to be alive at this specific moment in time. We hoped THE FACE might express some positivity for the future, no matter how bleak the headlines can get.”
It goes on to thank those who worked at THE FACE over the last seven years, as well as the photographers, stylists, writers, and others who contributed.
“And an extra special thank you to all the people who’ve inspired us – by throwing a party, experimenting with style, picking up a mic or raising a placard. We searched for stories everywhere, from London and New York to Paris, Kingston, Kyiv, Lagos, Gaza, Seoul, and Salford.
“We found that the spirit of the youth is as powerful as ever.”

The post ends: “We’ve got a few more beautiful covers to drop in the coming weeks, so please stay tuned.
“And remember: nothing comes close to THE FACE.”
THE FACE magazine was launched in London in 1980 by ex-NME editor Nick Logan. It ran from 1980 until 2004, ending due to a fall in circulation. Publisher Wasted Talent relaunched the mag in 2019.
THE FACE covered music, documenting subcultures and underground movements. It also covered fashion, beauty, TV, and film, becoming recognised for bold design and photography, and heavily shaping youth culture from the ‘80s to ‘90s.
Over the years, the magazine featured covers, features, and interviews with figures including Harry Styles, Rosalía, Tyler, the Creator, Kurt Cobain, Kate Moss, Missy Elliott, Grace Jones, The Prodigy, Oasis, Kelis, André 3000, Malcom X, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and more.
