Up Next is Skiddle's guide to the best in new music, and this week we've got French experimental, thumping electronic, euphoric pop and more to share with you. And, Leeds' Jumbo Records have selected a record that you can't miss too. Check out the best new music below.
Fcukers - Beatback
Fcukers are back with their latest single, which will be the opener of their debut album Ö. It is everything you’ve come to expect from the New York duo, effortlessly cool, and featuring some delightfully wonky synths amongst fluctuating drum beats.
Dublon, Dana Williams & jev - Sunrise
The laidback feelings are in full force on this track which fuses jazz elements with ambience to create an instantly soothing balm. Featuring vocals from jev and Dana Williams, they only help elevate the track to its full daydreaming potential.
Angel Du$t - Pain Is A Must
The final single which preceded Angel Du$t’s new album Cold 2 The Touch, it is very much on the softer side of hardcore. For fans of Turnstile and Militarie Gun, it refuses to compromise on the power of its riffs and is the perfect song to hype you up in an instant.
Delphine Dora - ‘l'ineluctable pulsation du temps’
Delpine Dora is a French composer trained in multiple instruments. Her latest single utilises delicate piano notes and constant drones to create a deeply immersive soundscape. It is both beautiful and terrifying in its immediate vastness, giving it an air of mysticism.
Hannah Lew - Sunday
A slice of memorable synth pop, let Hannah Lew’s ‘Sunday’ capture you in its glow. The track feels nostalgic, which makes sense given how closely it resembles songs of the 80s. It feels like you’re floating at times when listening.
TWOFACED - Love Again
A new banger from TWOFACED, ‘Love Again’ came out just in time for Valentine’s Day. A high-energy track, its synth lines come in relentless waves, presided over by thumping drum loops. That rush of sounds quickly gives way to euphoria, as you can feel the song flowing through you.
Sofia Kourtesis & Novalima - Los Poemas No Siempre Riman
The latest Sofia Kourtesis track ‘Los Poemas No Siempre Riman’ will feature on an upcoming DJ Kicks mix out in March. Featuring Afro-Peruvian group Novalima, you can hear their voices oscillating throughout. It’s a song that mixtures electronic with Latin, and it ebbs and flows between multiple shifting phases to always keep you guessing at its next turn.
Lip Critic - Legs In A Snare
It’s hard to pin down Lip Critic, as a lot of their songs sound completely mad. It’s as if they’re always on the brink of collapsing in on themselves. Not much has changed on ‘Legs In A Snare’, a mixture of electronic and punk/hardcore, which contorts the longer it goes on. It’s definitely the type of song only they could create.
Gordo & Reinier Zonneveld - Loco Loco
Gordo & Reinier Zonneveld link up for a track which is surely going to have crowds bouncing throughout 2026. With its addictive chorus that features stuttering vocals, the song is almost too much of a sensory overload at times. It’s ultimately a feel-good track that has boundless energy.
MUNA - Dancing On The Wall
MUNA are back, and their synth-pop sound is brighter than ever. The lyrics see Katie Gavin pushing through harder times to get her rewards, time spent dancing with the person who makes her feel best. The chorus is an absolute smash, and this band remains consistently brilliant.
Deathcrash - NYC
‘NYC’ creeps along with a certain sense of downtrodden anxiety. The atmosphere is distinctly gloomy, as singer Tiernan Banks describes hating himself under a hail of guitar riffs. It’s another deeply engrossing single from the band who know how to suck you in. There’s a lyric or two here that most people will be able to resonate with at some point in their life.
Jumbo Records record pick - Neba Solo & Benego Diakite: A Djinn and Hunter Went Walking
Recommended track: ‘Seko’
This week's spotlight pick comes from Leeds' Jumbo Records. Starting out in the 70s as a mobile discotheque, Jumbo then opened a store in Queens Arcade before later moving to where you'll now find them in the Merrion Centre. A proudly independent store, they have become a Leeds institution and are a key part of Leeds' music scene.
They've picked out an excellent record by Neba Solo and Benego Diakite this week, here's what they had to say about their pick: ‘Leading players of mythic Malian instruments, the balafon and donsongoni, combine two of West Africa’s great musical traditions together. Subtle grooves, topped with mellotron and lush string arrangements make this record a salve for these rainy winter days’.
You can pick up A Djinn and Hunter Went Walking on vinyl or CD via Jumbo's website.
