The Cult Of Dom Keller describe their forthcoming record as "the sound of Bauhaus falling into a K-Hole" - a pin-point description when tuning into the fang-glaring sonics of recent single 'Broken Arm Of God' (featured below).
Due out on July 22nd via Fuzz Club Records, Goodbye To The Light will be the quartet's third mind-expanding release. Pinned as their most experimental to date, we suspect it will plunge further into a doom-sodden ravine and accelerate their reputation for conjuring sprawling acid-rock soundscapes.
Intrigued by the listening habits behind the Nottingham psych outfit, we pressed them on records for numerous occasions ahead of a date at Hare and Hounds in Birmingham on Friday 17th June.
First up, Goodbye To The Light in your own words?
The new record is our most eclectic, epileptic and experimental, dark release to date! The sound of Bauhaus falling into a k-hole.
Your morning spin?
Our morning record would be Morning Phase by Beck or Kanye's Yeezus.
By order of the court all records should be burnt, you can only keep three from your collection...
Our three albums would be The Beach Boy's Pet Sounds, Chrome's Half Machine Lip Moves and Serge Gainsbourg's Histoire De Melody Nelson. Three records that cover all moods for all occasions from pure bliss to the apocalypse.
One for the road...
The salivating, raging beast that is Grinderman's Grinderman 2 album which gets all the juices flowing.
You walk into a bar and someone is blaring your song out of the jukebox, your dreams have been realised, who is it?
Aleister Crowley. He knew how to party.
The party is slumping, everyone is getting drunkenly prophetic, what do you put on to lift the joint?
Nothing gets a party started/ended better than the raw might of The Stooge's 'Funhouse'. This is a record where you find out who your real friends are.
Probably the best album ever...
Whilst writing this: Low by Bowie. No explanation needed. I'll try and muster some words up - This is a record that you get lost in over and over again.
The Cult Of Dom Keller play at the Hare and Hounds in Birmingham on Friday 17th June - tickets via the box below.
