DUNBAR SERVES UP A TASTY TREAT FOR MUSIC FANS WITH A

NEW ONE-DAY ?FEASTIVAL?

Indie rockers Idlewild will headline the Daytripper Festival, a new music and food festival which will take place in the town?s Lauderdale Park on September 3rd.

It will be a unique chance for East Coast fans of the indie rockers, currently on tour in the West Coast of America and recording a new album, to catch the band close to home on one of their few UK dates this year.

The new 1500 capacity festival is the brainchild of entrepreneurs Alan and Claire Gray who run Café Lauderdale as well as the specialist food company NoCowKnowHow.

Claire said:

?We are thrilled that Idlewild have agreed to support us at the Daytripper Festival this year and believe that they could draw music fans from far and wide to enjoy the delights of Dunbar. Whilst that would be a strong draw in itself, we felt that creating a festival would give a number of local musicians and bands the chance to perform to the audience they deserve.?

A further six local acts will be on the bill for the festival, which will run from 2pm until 10pm. A range of children?s entertainment including storytelling, magicians, face painting, balloon modelling and special musical taster sessions will also run throughout the day.

Idlewild?s manager Bruce Craigie said: ?Idlewild are delighted to be playing Daytripper. They really enjoy playing new and interesting festivals in Scotland and this one has a connection with their management, being based in Dunbar. I?ve promised them Sunny Dunny, so let's hope it will happen that way.?

Another festival highlight will be the variation of the food offerings available, which will be provided by producers who live within 30 miles of Dunbar and who cater for vegetarian, vegan, coeliac and allergy-friendly needs. A licensed bar will be provided by Thistly Cross Cider which will offer ale, lager and prosecco in addition to its award-winning craft cider range.

The location of Lauderdale Park is well suited for would-be visitors to the town coming in by rail, bicycle and car and special arrangements will be in place for parking.

Café Lauderdale is a community interest company and has already planted the seeds of music appreciation in the park with the introduction of ?Juke Joint Sessions?, monthly ticketed performances in the early evening.

Claire said: ?The sessions have been warmly received and work well within the park, allowing the whole family to have an enjoyable evening. Our goal with Daytripper Festival is to build on this enjoyment and any profits will be re-invested into further improvement and enhancement of the park?s facilities.?
