Thanks to generous funding from the Leche Trust, this unique festival is going ahead. Helen Sant the organiser was interviewed on Radio York, last Sunday about the forthcoming festival.

Presenter Jonathan Cowap asked her what the difference is between reading stories and telling stories. Helen explained that performances by professional storytellers, as taking place at the forthcoming festival are more vivid and bring the story to life, they educate and appeal to all ages, as they provide a chance for adults to get in touch with emotions and offer children a chance to enhance literacy skills.

Emails have been pouring in to Helen for copies of the programme and enquiries from people who have seen the Festival featured in the Yorkshire Post and York press. All in all, the festival looks like it is going to be a massive hit with those who love the spoken word. A real treat is guaranteed with puppet shows, Indian storytelling, vikings and a history/ghost pub tour to top it all, plus award winning actress Ursula Holden Gill will be performing on Friday with Fairies in the Gutter! It's all happening. Go to www.yorkstoryteller for the full lowdown and to read about the events or book tickets.
