Is that the sound of Santa’s sleigh? Nope, that’s London’s throbbing bassline, with October the month when DJs come out to play following a long summer of music festivities. Bass matters, and we’re here to give you the lowdown on the city’s best beat-laden parties. Here’s our pick for this month:

Jet-setting duo Bondax, who have just spent a year touring various parts of the globe, return to UK soil on October 4th with a warehouse party that promises the hottest young names in electronic music. Held at an unidentified ‘East London warehouse’, the all-nighter’s line-up features Eton Messy favourites Bodhi and Karma Kid, with Karma’s House-fuelled remix of Ben Pearce’s ‘What I Might Do’ promising to bring the house down (wherever the house might be). Sadly that’s now sold out, but there are further events here.

If you want a night where the bass drops a little heavier, spend your Friday at the Bunker Club, where the Connect Records Launch party will be laying down dark and deep beats. This intimate underground venue in Deptford/New Cross promises to bring South London a night of weighty Bass-laden tunes from Sudden Def, Panda Sound and Shinobi.

Bass music seems to be migrating East for the first weekend of October, with Sub FM hosting its very first official night at Stratford’s Swagga on October 5th. For just a fiver you’ll get a night of hot-blooded bass from the likes of GadManDubs, DJ Demo and The Bro, topped off by station legend Whistla Elltwoess. Hold onto your sub-woofers, October’s getting heavy!

For bass that’s less noodly and more ravey, get over to xoyo on Cowper Street on October 11th, where Bristol’s Redlight will be rocking the house with an exclusive live set. Lobster Boy labelmates New York Transit Authority are in tow, so if it’s a night of rave you crave this will push all the right buttons.

Mak & Pasteman - It Ain't Right

The Lobster Boy effect will be hanging around for a week longer, with label golden boys Mak & Pasteman (stream their killer take on Whitney Houston above) taking to the decks at Corsica Studios on October 18th for some Loud Noise vibes. Throwing Snow and Addison Groove will be beefing up proceedings with their tasty tunes, so expect a full spectrum of bpm in this South London hideout.

On the same night, Eton Messy are adding a new string to their already brimming musical bow, with the Bristolians hosting a night of bass favourites at The Nest. Their autumn/winter collection comprises 123Mrk, FKJ and Blonde, who will be playing the most cutting-edge beats of the city.

If you want to get ahead of the underground, get yourselves to the Bussey Building on October 25th for a night featuring the best breakthrough DJs and producers on the scene. The Spacestation crew have returned from an epic summer touring Europe’s best festivals and, having teamed up with Data Transmission, are delivering Doorly, Bodhi, Last Magpie and South Royston to Peckham. What’s not to love?

Golden Ticket

Ahadadream - Where We Go

Our golden ticket goes to the London debut of Ahadadream presents... on October 19th, with the Nasty FM aficionado bringing the bassy tones of Io Sounds and Lakosa to London’s best kept secret: The Blueberry. The producers have been creating major waves on the electronic underground, so it’s only fair you should be there to see them create a bass tsunami.
