The Story behind the concept of the night starts half a decade ago when deciding on signing up for The British Army. I was mentally and physically at the very highest standard and aced the Pre-Joining tests until it came to the Medical where i failed on the Audiometry Test. I got referred to a specialist and over the course of 18 months was told several different possible causes but nothing concrete. Eventually i was given drops to take up my nose which initially cleared the constant muffled hearing in my left ear. I joined the Territorial Army almost immediately and passed the Medical with no glitches. Over the next year, whilst getting prepared to go on tour to Afghanistan, during a Battle Field exercise i missed a command on cease firing solely down to not hearing.. over the next few weeks my hearing steadily got worse and was forced to leave and once again referred back to the specialists. This time after a conversation with the Surgeon, i had a internal examination in the left ear to which i was told there was a Tumour and i would lose my hearing! This type of tumour is extremely rare where 1 - 10000 people suffer and is notoriously known for being almost impossible to find! I had a MRi Scan to confirm my worst nightmare ...

This was devastating on top of having to leave the Army, i am also a musician, DJ, Producer & Owner of a Record Label .. so my hearing is absolute paramount to who i am and my lifestyle. As i hope you can appreciate and empathise with .. i was completely ruined and sank into a deep depression which overwhelmed me and impacted on my 3 children, my work and my Marriage.

Over the next several months i was in constant worry that the tumour could move and cause facial paralysis at any time alongside suffering from depression and trying to come to terms with losing basically everything personally that i've worked so hard to achieve over the last decade.

Throughout this extremely testing and difficult time the Surgeon at Lincoln E.N.T was fantastic and kept me fully informed of what was happening. I had a pre-Op assessment and was bumped up the list in Doncaster to have the Surgery. The Surgeon from Lincoln travelled on the day to be in Theatre which in itself calmed me on one of the biggest days of my existence ..... Operation time was upon me ......

I woke up on the 11th of March after 4 and half hours in Surgery to several Specialists standing, looking bewildered around my Hospital bed !! The surgery was a complete success and was pretty unbelievable as no bones, nerves or reconstruction was needed and my hearing would in fact be better than it has been for over 5 yrs !!!

As you can imagine, i was in tears ..... over the next few months up until the present my hearing is returning day by day and i'm actually hearing things that i haven't been able to hear in the past ! It's almost like learning to hear once again !

Hearing is so fundamental to ones life and especially so for those involved in any kind of musical work or pleasure. With my case being so rare i had never heard of it and was extremely blessed to have not only one of the best surgeons in his field but one of the most competent and thorough also.

I think it's critical and only right to spread awareness of these terrible diseases that people, music lovers, music players, clubbers, concert goers basically anyone are educated in the need to look after ones hearing and protect and have knowledge about how to do so and what the possible consequences could be.

For this, i am currently finalizing a charity fundraising event in Lincoln at BrewHaus Basement to raise awareness of ear protection and inner ear diseases and also in support of the E.N.T Clinic 6 at Lincoln Hospital that aided me throughout to donate towards Patient Amenities, Staff Training and most importantly Research and development.

The event night is going to be a specialized Genre of Drum & Bass with some of the pioneers from the scene showcasing including Ray Keith, Digital, Gerra & Stone, RV and some of the best up & coming talent from my imprint! We also have the guys who custom supply Ear plugs for RAM & HOSPITAL Records who many will be familiar with, heading over to run merchandising and giving information on Hearing protection including donating Half of all monies on the night to the cause!
HOSPITAL RECORDS & DISPATCH RECORDINGS are sending over some donation merchandise alongside an EXCLUSIVE RV signed Vinyl piece including 5 x 12's from my own Label and some surprises on the night too !

I have had press interviews with newspaper already who have published a page spread with hopefully radio chats alongside etc so we are looking for a great turn out and more importantly a healthy Donation towards the E.N.T Clinic 6 at Lincoln Hospital!

Please help spread awareness and research and development by donating, sharing or purchasing a Ticket to the event which 100% profits alongside 50% of all Merchandise is being donated to the cause.

With the Kindest of Regards
