Incredible schoolboy Ted McCaffery has been named LIDL's Young Fundraiser of the Year at the Pride of Britain Awards 2014.

While he waited for open heart surgery, little Ted decided to raise money to replace the TV in his hospital room - not for himself, but for the next little boy or girl to be in his position.

He finished a mini-triathlon to raise money for the hospital, collapsing in exhaustion at the end, determined to keep his promise. His bravery led to him being made a children's ambassador for Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

He's launched a social media campaign where people take a photo of their teddy, adding #showusyourbear and donate to Alder Hey, and is gearing up for his second scootathon this year.

Pop singer Olly Murs presented little Ted with his award at tonight's glittering ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.

Before he was invited on stage, the audience were shown a video of celebrities, including Nicole Scherzinger taking selfies with their teddies as part of Ted's campaign.

The whole audience took to their feet as Ted made his way to the stage, looking adorable in a smart grey suit and colourful tie.

He was, of course, carrying his teddy with him.

Asked by host Carol Vorderman if he was planning any more fundraising, he said he'll be doing another triathlon next year.

He then looked into the crowd to see guests, including the presenters of Loose Women, Dragon's Den and Alan Carr with their own bears.

Olly Murs took to the stage with his teddy bear Waffles, before giving Ted the surprise of his life.

Olly told little Ted a private jet was waiting to whisk him and his family away for a holiday in Disneyland Paris, right there and then.

With a huge grin, Ted replied: "Back of the net!"
