A new Channel 4 documentary is set to dive into the last creative years of David Bowie, a period that saw the legendary artist transform his own mortality into one final act of art.

David Bowie: The Final Act, a collaboration between Channel 4, Dogwoof and Rogan Productions, promises an intimate look at Bowie’s final decade - from his iconic Glastonbury 2000 headline slot to the release of Blackstar, the hauntingly beautiful record that arrived just days before his death in 2016.

The 90-minute film features exclusive interviews with close collaborators, “famous fans” and artists who knew Bowie personally, shedding light on his artistic evolution and the creative process behind his later work.

Director Jonathan Stiasny said the project is about more than just looking back at a career:

“The traditional music documentary celebrates triumph. Bowie transformed failure into triumph, silence into revelation, and ultimately, death into art.”

Channel 4’s commissioning editor Shaminder Nahal added:

“Bowie was one of those rare artists whose imagination never dimmed. This film reveals how, when faced with the end, he found ways to push boundaries and create something transcendent.”

An exact release date for David Bowie: The Final Act has yet to be confirmed, but fans can expect an emotional and inspiring reflection on one of music’s most visionary figures.
