Motion 2.0 campaign announced after shock closure of the iconic Bristol venue

With the future of the iconic Bristolian rave haven, Motion, up in the air for the past few weeks and months, the venue came out last night with sombre news - Motion, as it is loved and known, will be no more. Due to issues with the landowners and developers who want to turn the land and buildings into student accommodation, come July 2025, the site on Avon Street will close for good.

Yet, whilst this isn't easy news to digest, particularly to those who have called Bristol and Motion home and partied there over its 20-year history, the incredible team behind the venue have lit a rebellious torch in the darkness and are taking matters into their own hands and are going to #KEEPMOTIONMOVING.

 

The campaign will define what Motion 2.0 will be. It's set to help secure and fund Motion’s future: supporting the search for a new home to keep Bristol's music scene thriving for generations to come.

In the announcement post, the Motion team said: "We've done everything we could to change to outcome. We submitted a detailed Bid to buy the site, backed by full funding and a long-term vision for its future. But despite doing everything right, it's becoming increasingly clear: we will not be open past July.

"Today, we're proud to announce Motion 2.0 - an ambitious plan to relocate and reimagine what Motion can be. A new venue. A new space. But with the same soul, the same ethos, the same commitment to underground music, to opportunity, to independence, and to support the Bristol scene we love.

"If Motion has ever meant something to you; if you've danced here, fallen in love here, found music here, made friends here, felt free here - back us., Share this story. Invest if you can. Spread the word. Help us secure the next chapter.
