We caught up with the Bitch resident ahead of his gig in Manchester at Venus on September 24th to talk Toolroom, dream gigs, and why you should never leave your Baileys unaccompanied with him...

Matt Everson is a name that’s very well known around Manchester; a local lad done good and someone who continues to rocket the realms of success in the North West, nationally and around the globe.

Signed to the legendary Toolroom Records, his production skills and versatile style have gained his adoration from his peers and fans alike.

Thanks for taking the time to speak to us Matt, are you looking forward to your return to Bitch at the end of the month?

Yes I am indeed… such an amazing night. Always say it every time I’m on, ace music, ace crowd, ace atmosphere, so many music lovers there, makes it all worthwhile!

You’ve obviously played gigs around the world, what makes playing in you hometown special?

I get that extra buzz playing back home. Loads of friends, so many familiar faces that have been following you for years of DJing

You're playing alongside a fellow Toolroom artist, Gina Star. How does your style compare to hers?

My music is all about the groove and bassline, lots of percussion, few vocals thrown in for good measure.

On the production front you’ve been incredibly busy, what tracks have you released recently that are proving to be the most popular?

I have so many tracks that I’ve made or half finished, I need more hours in the day. I have two tracks on Toolroom -  “Faceplant” and “Zalana” - and also an EP on Maquina Music, called “Havana EP” featuring “Havana”, “Time to Play” and “Reality”. All the tracks are proving really popular, and also getting some major support from the big jocks, Mark Knight, Erick Morillo, Chris Lake, Eddie Halliwell, Jesse Voorn, DJ Chus and loads more. Makes me happy to see this.

How did your signing with Toolroom come about?

I sent them my tracks, and as they were playing 'Faceplant' in Toolroom Office, Mark Knight heard it and said “Is this signed? Let's sign it”. And that’s that.

What has been your most memorable gig to date?

So many. I have played every year at the legendary Warehouse Project in Manchester Store Street. It gets better and better every time I play. Amazing vibes. I’m playing again twice this year, so looking forward to it being even more memorable.

Where is left to play that you are dying to appear at?

Wow… so many… SPACE Terrace, Ibiza… I’d cream myself if I played there… in fact I think I did a little thinking about it!

You’ve clearly got music running through your veins but what would you do if you weren’t in the industry?

I’d be a fluffer!

What can the Bitch crowd expect from you on the 24th?

Get ready to have your knickers grooved clean off!
