When Marian Call announced she wanted to tour Europe but needed help to make it happen her fans jumped at the chance to help the independent Alaskan Singer-Songwriter.

Call created a Kickstarter project to allow her fans to donate to the adventure and set a minimum goal of $11,111 (£7,029); much to Calls surprise it took only 3-hours to reach the goal and 24 days later when the project had ended $63,302 (£40,050) had been raised.

As the money was raised so quickly Call wanted to offer some extra rewards for her fans so she set some new goals. What started as a European Tour and a live album ended up being that plus a music video, full-length video concert and an album of 15 cover songs including Blackbird by the Beatles, 3 songs from the Muppets Movie and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Call says Thank you to all of you folks who contributed to my crazy Kickstarter. You are mighty when you pull together. Just look what youve done, its incredible! Ive been trying to get to Europe to play shows for three years, and now it will actually happen. Thank you.

Call is gathering a very strong and loyal fan base through her quirky, honest and soulful songs, work in Social Media and dedication to her fans by playing in towns they request. Her music has been described by fans as funky acoustic joy jazz that appeals to crowds of all ages and demographics and is based on Alaska, science fiction and living life as a geek.

In 2010 Call drove over 35,000 miles in 7 months to play in all 50 United States, now her sight is set firmly on Europe and between the 17th October and 16th November 2012 Call with be touring at least 15 European towns and cities across 7 countries including England, Scotland and Ireland.

Call says 'I go where my listeners are no matter how impractical it may be. Yes and Im excited, this is great because I want to go to Europe'

Joining Call on tour will be fellow Alaskan artist Scott Barkan on acoustic guitar but Call is also a bit of a musical maestro herself and she doesnt play what you would call ordinary instruments. Her signature Underwood typewriter, rain stick, and kazoo can be heard in most of her performances and whilst these may seem a strange choice of instrument, they really add to the performance and it feels completely natural.

As an independent artist Call cant rely on studio funding or booking agents to do the work for her, as well as writing and singing, Call has to book her concerts, arrange accommodation, do interviews, update her website and answer hundreds of emails and tweets on a daily basis. Her fans are a big help from not only financing albums but also by offering lodging, house concerts and venue recommendations.

Having completed three studio albums, released more than a dozen singles and toured the US and Canada and now only weeks away from her first ever European tour all under her own power without label support, Marian Call exemplifies a natural given talent with a mind for business whos star can only rise and will no doubt take the UK and the rest of Europe by storm.
