Gez Varley first came to prominence in 1990 as one half (together with Mark Bell) of the ground breaking Leeds based duo LFO. After their spilt in 1996 Gez went on to produce some of technos all time classics under his G-Man alias like the G-Man Ep and the tracks Quo Vadis & El-Jem. The project developed organically over a period of months where an album and live work became part of a natural flow of events, resulting in the release of the album Kushti on Swim Records.
At the beginning of 1999 Gez moved to Germany and began playing more widely across Europe aswell as starting a new label with his girlfriend. The first released on GMR was in October 2000 with Volume One of the Knight Trax series. He also released the amazing album Bayous Paradis on Force Inc the same year and remixed Belgian duo BNG, included on the critically acclaimed ATV2 album. From 2005-2008 a bunch of new tracks came out on WIR, i220 and his own imprint GMR aswell as re-issues and remixes of the legendary Quo Vadis and in recent times Gez has been pretty prolific releasing on Sonic Groove, Styrax, Resopal, AFU and LucidFlow amongst others.
G-Man plays a very rare LIVE show for us at The Aftermath on July 7th and itll be his first Leeds gig in something like 10 years!!
