Free music programme 'Learn to Play' returns this Autumn

Returning for another year is the free music-making programme, 'Learn to Play'. Inviting all music enthusiasts, no matter their talents, to get inspired while championing UK music providers. The flagship event comes from the charity Music For All, which is dedicated to creating spaces where anyone of any age can access music-making opportunities, a goal that is becoming increasingly difficult over time due to continued cuts to arts education. 

From Thursday 9th to Sunday 12th October, various venues across the UK will be opening their doors to offer free taster music lessons, providing a crucial platform for all ages, experience levels, and backgrounds to explore. 

With research proving the neurological benefits of music, throughout life, playing a musical instrument can significantly improve memory and complex problem-solving skills in older adults, as well as be associated with reduced depression, anxiety, and pain, alongside an improved quality of life. 

With the events being heavily supported by the NAMM Foundation and The Foyle Foundation, among other partners, this is a great event to attend this Autumn. To find more information on what venues are hosting a free lesson and how to register, check out the Learn to Play 2025 website.
