Hard techno superstar blk. has risen to the top of the scene by delivering sets packed with hypnotic bass and pulsating drums. Although he grew up in the small village of Emly in County Tipperary, music was never far away.

The DJ and producer, born Zack Coughlan, spent his teenage years absorbing the harder sounds of electronic music. His Dad, a rave promoter, sold deep house records from a shop he ran in Limerick City. That proximity became a passion, and he soon began to take his first steps into production via deep house.

Those years absorbing extreme sounds weren’t for nothing. It shaped his direction as he began to produce hard techno, attracting early buzz with 2020’s ‘Don’t Talk, Just Listen’, which caught the attention of Irish imprint Reboot Records. This led to the release of the equally hyped ‘Enter The Dragon’ in 2021.

As the years passed, momentum began to soar. By the end of 2024, he became the first solo Irish DJ to headline Dublin’s 3 Arena and appeared at globally renowned festival Tomorrowland. A full circle moment arrived, too. Four years after releasing ‘I Need A Boiler Room’, blk. made his debut on the platform, spinning an hour of mind-bending techno to a charged Manchester crowd. It was a year to remember for the DJ who played his first show in front of 200 people in Sligo.

Since that year, blk. hasn’t looked back. He brought his relentless strand of techno to Belsonic Festival, nearly doubling the number of people he played to at the 3 Arena and shaking the foundations of Creamfields Festival. With stream numbers constantly rising and followers tuning into the sound, the sky is the limit for blk. Keep your eyes peeled for the next blk. tour and find any blk. tickets up for grabs right here on Skiddle.
