Sheffield is a city brimming with art, music and history. Far more than just being a centre of the steel industry and where blockbuster movie The Full Monty was set, Sheffield is an enormously interesting exciting place - a hive of activity and a cultural centre in the North of England.
Sheffield is in fact one of the greenest cities in the UK, with oases of tranquility like Sheffield's Winter Garden in the centre, and beauteous areas in the outskirts like Beauchief Abbey, Cannon Hall, and the 19th century Botanical Gardens.
When it comes to the arts and music though, Sheffield boasts an incredibly rich heritage. Bands like all conquering Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, The Human League, Def Leppard and Bring Me The Horizon are all Sheffield based, whilst the city has also been crafting a serious underground dance music community. Even actors as fine as Dominic West from 'The Wire' fame, Donald Pleasance, Eddie Izzard, and Sean Bean can all call Sheffield their home town.
In short, the Yorkshire city is crammed with creative pursuits, clubnights, gigs, bars, theatre, and plenty more. Head here to check out the Skiddle guide to what's on in Sheffield.
